Just thought it was worth giving a heads-up on a rattle from the boot area which can come from the supplied plastic tool kit.

 

I had a plasticky rattle/vibration from the boot area ever since I had my car and couldn't track it down until the other day when I discovered what was causing it. The plastic tool kit lid has a round central piece which is separate and simply snaps into place with four plastic tags. The fit of this plastic piece is very loose and rattly. You can unclip the round piece by levering it up with a screwdriver. I used silicone to glue mine and then snapped it back into place and the rattle has gone. You could use a piece of sponge or foam inside the round piece instead of silicone I suppose.

 

Seems to me that the boot carpet should rest on it and prevent it rattling but it didn't do that on mine.

 

Nice one.  Had similar on the missus's car;  the grey/silver insert in the middle of the engine cover was loose-fitting and rattly. Now removed, much quieter.

Errr...... It's loose until you turn it and screw it into the floor of the boot so it doesn't move .......and then wont rattle.

Nope, that's not the bit I'm talking about. It's the round plastic thing on the top of the lid.
