Blue coloured main beam lamps.

Featured Replies

Im looking for the best and brightest lamps I can find for my octy.

Ive some osram night breakers in at the moment but was looking for a whiter light like a HID lamp.

Also if I did install a non road legal bulb how would the police know?

If you get a full blue bulb like the philips diamond vision you wont be able to see. Very white but very low output.

For halogen bulbs you need to compromise, you wont get white without loosing output

They wouldn't unless they had a 'warrant' to open your bonnet and inspect it manually, not likey!

All you have to say is you have upgraded xenon lights, but you shouldn't attract their attention if you have them aligned correctly as per MOT regulations.

Not even an MOT tech has the right to tamper with your car i.e. take things apart and inspect, it's a visual inspection only.

A warrant? Lol

Don't be silly. Police don't need a warrant to check what bulbs you've got in. They just need to suspect they're illegal and if you refuse to let the check then they're more than likely to issue a prohibition notice preventing you from going any further.

In reality though, unless they're stupidly bright the police would do anything. VOSA might though!!

Ha I was messing using warrant coz I couldn't think of another way to say it lol!

Either way there's not much to worry about, even if they did you could just take them out, plus there are lots of new cars with bright white lights today as standard. I don't think they will be bothered unless as u say they are stupidly bright or misaligned.

if u want practical light - stay away from globes with any hint of blue on it!!!

The law requires that a maximum of 50w for headlights as it was introduced many years before the current lighting sources were thought of.
