Hi

When we collected our Fabia vRS we were advised that it had had the Autoglym Lifeshine treatment and came with a very nice case of Autoglym products in the boot. As much as I enjoy looking at a nice shiny motor, I am completely uncommitted to the cleaning task so I'm after some advice about how best to care for a car that has the Lifeshine treatment. I assume that any vigorous (ie machine) polishing would remove the Lifeshine treatment, so would I be right in thinking that a good wash and wax treatment would be all that is required?  If so, what wash and wax is recommended? I've read good comments about Sonax BSD; would that be appropriate?

And if you want to know what's in the case I don't know - I haven't looked!

Grateful for any help; thanks in advance.

Yes...just a light spray and wipe with Sonax BSD (10 mins max) will see it well protected and easier to clean

Hi  :hi:

The case of products contains everything you need to care for the LifeShine coating, that is why you get it! The other good thing is that the products in the kit provided work in harmony with the LifeShine coating and won't damage, degrade or remove the LifeShine that has been applied, so you know that you won't have any compatibility issues, poor finishes or warranty issues.

Caring for the LifeShine coating is very simple, just wash with the Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner in your kit regularly to remove dirt from the LifeShine layer, then dry it with the large yellow drying towel to prevent any water spots forming.

If you do get water spots or minor scuffs they can be removed with Super Resin Polish (also provided)

Use the Aqua Wax in the kit when you want to give the bodywork an extra spruce up, spray it sparingly over the car after washing while the car is still wet, then buff to a shine.

Easy.

Unfortunately Mark........the treatment that Dealers rip you off with at ridiculous prices, often is badly applied and also..more worryingly..not applied at all

I know this from a personal experience with my wifes car...no interior protection at all or on the glass (It was a showroom model supposingly with the whole car done)

Theres a  message here for anyone contemplating this treatment.

AGSRP is a good product but it needs topping with a better sealer or wax...or both

AGHD Wax is good....AGESP sealant is very poor

This is why I recommended Sonax BSD

I couldn't agree with you more in this Chris, I had it applied to my Kia sportage and thought it was one of the worst investments I had ever made, plus they recommended I didn't use any other products other than their own.

And whenever it rained you could see water marks, even when I had just washed and finished it in their own products.

My cousin just recently bought a black golf and she took it back twice, the first time vw agreed it had not been applied properly so agreed to do it again.

Then the second time she went into complain saying the car has never looked clean since she has had it because it always has water marks all over it and you could even see SRP on the Matt black parts of the car, VW gave her half the money back.

I would suggest people don't get pulled into the dealer hype about these types of products and get a good detailer to do the job properly!

Alternately You can spend 4-5 hours on your own car build up a quality collection of products and do it yourself for half the price. IMO the best idea.

Unfortunately Carl, Companies/Dealers play on the ignorance and indeed laziness of their customers

They trust their Dealer to apply it properly and they are lied to, that it will last for years...Not even 12 months in some cases...

They even sell it by telling customers that they need never polish their car again!! They believe it too!!

All their lifeshine is, is a sealer...like many on the market..and is eroded just like any sealer on the market will do eventually, even ceramic ones

Anyone reading this..AVOID.

I cannot believe that Autoglym wouldn't provide some indication of how to help maintain the Lifeshine treatment. Very poor service to the customer!

My previous Mercedes had a Diamondbrite coating and after 10 years it still looked a good finish.
