Mk1 octy front mud flap fixings

Featured Replies

As the the title really, I've fitted a set of genuine mud guards to the front of my vrs combi and was wondering if there's a fixing point on the underside of the guard as there seems to be a hole for one? At the moment there fixed with the torx screws in to the wheel lining and a clip at the top. I hope this makes sense! Thanks

Thats it if remember rightly.

When you say underside you mean the bit that runs back onto the sill ??

Yes that's correct mate

Fitted mine recently and yeah its just another torx screw on the underside

I don't remember there being anything else.

Mind you it was about 7 years ago

Yeah there is a torx screw fixing under the seal to make the mudflap sit tight to seal and become a bit firmer. There is normally 2 torx screws that fix the mudflap to under arch and 2 x plastic locking lugs that hold the mudflap tight to outer arch.

Ahh I'm missing the bottom torx screws then, anybody got the item number or pictures? Thanks

Just use a self tapper screw that will fit the seal thread(they are only plastic inserted nuts) and also be big enough not to fall through mud flap. As they sit inside the mudflap you won't see them. Be careful not to over tighten as you will strip the plastic threaded nut in seal.
