What oil

Featured Replies

I have a 1.6 fsi. What oil should I use? I see people referring to VX *.***.** or whatever but but kinda means little to me lol

Will I be ok with 5w40 fully synthetic Magnatec C3?

Make sure the container lists the correct spec. You need a minimum of VW 502.00, but better still go for VW 504.00.

If an oil meets the above specifications it has been tested and approved by Volkswagen / Skoda for your engine.

Hi Mike, on a related subject, I spoke to an engineer once who said that he would never consider using Magnatec in any car he owned. IIRC it was something to do with the issue around it being suitable, I believe he said that in some countries their are specialist oils like this that cannot be marketed as engine oil. It was a long time ago so the details are fuzzy but I have stayed away from Magnatec ever since. Might be worth researching..? I use full synthetic but not Magnatec.

Thanks for that. So in essence vw504.00 is 5w30 so I can use Mobil 1 full synthetic. Prices on the site wasn't too bad either.

Never had an issue with Magnatec before. I have used it in all my cars from xr2's, 300zx, 928, astra gsi, astra estate and None have ever had an issue with it.
