Retrofit Columbus?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My first post on here but I have used a few in the past and grateful for the help I have gotten from them.

I have been offered a Columbus head unit for a decent price and was wondering if anyone has ever retrofitted a Columbus head unit into a Fabia MK 2 (I have a 58 plate)

Cheers

Gareth

Yes fits no problem. Just needs to gateway coding to let the car know there is a nav there so it works with the speed sensors and maxidot if fitted.

I have also just bought a columbus unit and was planning to fit it myself, just wondered if i need any extra connections for the unit to work or should they all be there? I have the original swift unit at the moment and the columbus comes with the gps aerial. Also, how do i do the gateway coding?

No extra connections or trim needed as long as you have the gps aerial.

Coding needs to be done with vcds so you will need to find a local member with it.

I'm on mobile so can't see your location but I have it and I'm in cannock.

Thanks for your help. Im in Maidstone, i suppose i could post something on here and try to find someone with the CD. Would they charge if i took it to a main dealer or Skoda specialist to do?

You'll almost certainly need a CAN bus adapter as you're on a 58 plate. Otherwise you'll either need to code it up in another other car from the Skoda range which had a Columbus from the factory or a 2010+ Fabia.

My retrofit into my 2011 works brilliantly after a bit of coding with VCDS. I hope you can get yours working as well.

This is exactly what I am thinking of doing. I have the Mk 2 Fabia on a 08 plate and the Stereo does not work so thinking of upgrading to the Columbus. Would like to know if you get this to work and what was needed.

Thanks
