Damn and blast

Featured Replies

Only had the car two weeks and spotted this -

**** happens

Think yourself lucky. 10 days to a scratched and dented bonnet, cracked a-pillar trim and chipped passengers' door on mine.

I'd happily swap that lot for a damaged tyre!

Yep but I can't think of a way this has happened, It doesn't look new to me.

Kerbed. Look at the mark just above the N of Dunlop.

Not by me it hasn't! Plus the split is before the mark not after, as would expected due to direction of travel.

The cut continues round the tyre in an anti-clockwise direction off the photo, not as deep but more into the wall of the tyre than the corner of the tread.

Looks like its been deliberately cut. Someone jealous of your new car?

This is why you need more than a can of spray cheese in the boot.

I'd go with this theory too, the cut looks very clean and consistent to be road damage!

Might be worth a call to the local Constabulary to see if there's been a spate of damage in the locality.

Yep, definately a dam and blast situation!

it does look like a knife or something has been used to cut into the tyre.

Mine was keyed after 3 days; offside passenger door and rear wing. Mindless vandalism possibly targeting supposedly gas-guzzling 4x4s?

With two areas of damage next to each other I do not believe in coincidence and they are seperate events. I also cannot see somebody putting a knife into a tyre and running such a long smooth curve. The tyre appears to have hit and then ridden up on something. I also think it looks like kirbing.

If you were reversing up into a parking space with a slight lock, and hit a gulley/grid the tyre could quite easily ride up and produce such a slice/cut.after the impact.

Well tyre's changed now. No point getting 1 new one and I can't afford 4 new ones at the moment, but I've managed to get a good part worn fitted for £35.

I'm changing all 4 after the summer (if we have one) so this will tide me on until then. Th dealer wouldn't change the tyres and they are close to the wear guides at the back.

Good move.
