Strange thing ive notice with octy vrs exhaust

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just a quick one regarding my PD170 octy exhaust.... ive noticed on a few occasions that after a slightly spirited drive on a motorway or something similar that if i pull up and listen to the exhaust it almost sounds like its blowing, then after a couple of mins it seems to go quiet and the engine note changes.. no i know some of you may say its a regen but the RPM is sitting below 1000 (about 800) so dont think its a regen as the revs are too low.. any one have a clue what this is? i though it could be some sort of exhaust valve but cant find anything on here about it...

Yes I've noticed this aswell. It's like the dpf is regenerating but like you said it doesn't go up to 1k.....so I always assumed it was regenerating....is this not the case? I'm seriously considering either...a) getting a dpf delete or B) selling and buying a 330d

Having read Silvers post on the EGR i suppose its possible its this... interesting that the EGR for want of a better word Fxxks up all of the smooth running of your engine, lessens power etc etc,... think I may just get a petrol car in future and not bother with all this crap..
