Wiring queries. 1.6 Felicia

Featured Replies

I've just had to do an impromptu engine change and I'm two plugs short of getting it wired in.

Does anyone know off-hand, or would anyone be able to check the following?

Which plug connects to the rad fan switch?

What connects into the plug on the bracket behind the thermostat housing (shares the bracket with the lambda sensor plug)?

Ta

Rad switch loom is a seperate sub loom that plugs in drivers side down in the bottom corner of the radiator next to the airbox, the wires run along the bottom of the rad to the temperature switch and to the fan, it's basically a permanent live and a ground, and the switch makes the circuit which brings the fan on., somewhat unhelpful that the plug for the drivers side fog light is in exactly the same place and that's also a 2 pin plug too, chech the wire colours!

The 3 pin plug on the f shape bracket on the thermostat housing is for knock sensor on the back of the engine block, it's another short sub loom about 30 cm long that goes from there to the circular sensor in the middle of the block.

hope this helps

Immensely! Funnily enough I was looking at the knock sensor when the engine was on the floor saying 'you know what - I bet I fforget that'.

Yep, the three different 2 pin plugs in the same place are what's got me stumped.

Much appreciated!

Ah yes,the 3rd one is for the oil pressure switch and alternator sense cable on the 1.3 models if I recall, on the. 1.6 the oil pressure switch is in the fuel injection loom instead.... Don't quote me on thus though, it's late and this from memory.

Yeah, it's just a spade connector that sitd next to number 1 injectors plug.

the other one i thought of is the horn, that is in the same location too but it has a longer cable than the others and it should dissapear through to the front crash bar

Yep, horn never got unplugged. Just found the little intermediate bit of loom that goes in between the engine loom and the knock sensor and its all making sense now :-)

I had this sort off problem when I put the 1.6 air con in the 1.3 shell I found that the fan switch was on the engine loom and the fan plug on car loom was not needed but had to add the oil sensor and think the battery light from the one side to the other and engine back. I must admit colour codeing the plugs would help us.... tom is the felicia man in her...
