just read the clarkson review on The Times' website. He reckons it handles very well, so sod it i'll just test drive one and see.

We swapped a Chili Cooper with ASC+T and Sports suspension for the Furby 1.9 TDi. The MINI handles better, a lot better.

But the power in the Furby is much more usable, wins hands down in torque. The Furby is _way_ more comfortable (the MINI will loosen your fillings on a bad road) and day to day the Furby is a lot easier to live with.

That's not to say the MINI is a bad car - far from it - but the 10% of the time when handling matters is outweighed by the 90% it doesn't

There's nothing wrong with the way the vRS handles (in my opinion), it handles pretty damn well and has a good ride, and seems a good set up for most peoples real world driving.

There's a big difference between a test track and the average UK road, what's good for a track may be impossible to live with every day.

Iv'e said this before regarding the Clarkson Fabia and Mini Top gear item, but I really don't believe Clarkson was driving the car at its best. This is't because I have a Fabia, this was my view long before I got my Fabia, when I first saw the episode. He was revving it too hard, and as we all know, that acheives nothing in a diesel

Diesels are no different from petrol in as much as, if you want to go as fast as you possibly can, you must rev it.

I think what he means Paul is that he may have been revving it beyond it's powerband...

I know there are loads of threads on this.One point though.

If a wallowy Fabia sorts a cooper on a bendy track,presumably a straight line race between the two would be a total embarrassment for the chrysler engined(I think) mini? :confused:
