LED Lamps

Our local ASDA has a huge sign up saying "NO EXCUSES - GUARANTEED", basically an invitation to all the local un-washed to rip them off left right and centre, I know loss leaders can bring in large profits for companies but surely this is taking things a bit far?!

Back on to the LED's, I fitted an after market HID Xenon kit at the same time as my second set of LED sidelights and I believe the lack of heat is whats keeping my LED's alive, as LED's run cooler than conventional lamps (lamp is actually the correct term for what we describe as bulbs - bulbs grow, lamps glow) I believe the heat from normal halogen Lamps kills them.[/quote']

The heat issue sounds likely so i'm screwed as no xenons. I like to keep my side lights on during the day. It comes from driving a Megane which turns off the lights automatically when you remove the keycard and leave the car and vice versa. Just got used not turning off lights and I really like the idea of front LED side lights though as they are a bit different, take vitrually no power to run and have very good lifespans over filiment lamos. I think some of the better ones can be got in a colour very close to white with very little blue tint. I can't stand blue lights and those daft windscreen washer LEDs either.

I've never used the front fogs on any car i've had before. Maybe I should replace the lamps in the fog lights of my new Octy with Leds.

Can you operate the front fogs on the OctyII independently of the rear foglight and the headlights?

Has anyone tried the xenon effect sidelight bulbs you can get? Any good?

"Please note because the Leds are plastic they melt and fail (flicker) if placed to close to the Main headlight bulb (less than 3 inches away) - We will not exchange any bulb that has failed due to heat damage."

A quote from Ultraleds.co.uk there.....

Looks like the heat from the Halogens is the killer as the sidies are pretty close to the main lamp, mine have all failed after flickering and looking very silly.

BUT.................

I'm not 100% convinced, mine have failed during the summer months and i rarely use the main lamps, I tend to use the front foggies as they look better due to being behind projector lenses, thats the overheat issue dismissed then, i am still hedging my bets on voltage fluctuation.

And if the light switching is the same on the octy 1 and 2, you can have the front foggies on with just the sidelights, its the rear foggies you can't have on without the front ones being on too.
