'Wish list' for next generation Superb...?

Featured Replies

If range can improve it might be viable. The superb isn't exactly a city car and most will be on motorways etc eating up the miles, especially the larger engines so the limited range that we see on a lot of plug in cars wouldn't be practical. They might get there with the technology in a few years but I reckon will probably be more popular on the small and mid sized cars for another while yet.

The Volvo V60 hybrid is not a city car either, although that one only has a 30 mile range. Still not bad.

Nor is the big Mercedes E-class hybrid, but that one only has a 20BPH electric motor built into it's gearbox and only assists the engine rather than be an alternative to. Oh yes...there is also the shocking £8000 hike on a standard engine E-class which only does around 12MPG less.

So the technology is definitely getting there but not quite at the 'having our cake and eating it' stage. The VW Golf Hybrid does look like a big step in the right direction. Especially for us Skoda owners.

We can only live in hope.

The rumours are the Passat will come with a 200bhp 2.0tdi and 10 speed dsg. Be interesting to see if they make there way to the superb.

10 speed DSG :o

and I thought the Jaguar 8 speed was nifty.

Suspect it would be quite efficient and help to reduce emissions

The engines of Passat 2015 most likely will be as follows:

The base will be a 1.4L TSI that is estimated to produce from 125 hp to 150 hp. Moreover, there will be a 1.6L TDI generating 116 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and a 1.8L TSI being capable to develop 180 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. What’s more, there will be two variants of a 2.0L – the TSI releasing between 220 and 280 hp, and the TDI producing up to 231 hp.

But if to be realistic those will come (if) to Skoda in 2017 or so.

Comparing it with my mondeo estate which I still have ,  the estate boot capacity although  in numbers is  larger than the mondeo mk 4 estate , it's  narrower and has less actual practical space for my use as I sometimes have to carry 2 large rectangular containers ( its a long story lol)  , these will fit side by side in the mondeo but not in the skoda . The seats also don't go completely flat , I suspect skoda have upped their figures  using those cubby holes . Another 10 litre fuel capacity would be good
