cost of DMF replacement by skoda

Featured Replies

Hi looks like I may have a DMF on its way out on my 56 plate 2.0tdi vrs, I get vibrating growl sound at low revs on hills and also the same sound when changing gear under quick acceleration . Don't seem to have much noise on tick over with or without clutch pedal down tho. Has anyone had one of these replaced by skoda recently and any idea of full cost to replace?

Sam.

I had mine replaced in a 1.9TDi DSG about 3 years ago, by an independant garage. Genuine part was £500 then at least £200 to fit it IIRC, maybe more think the bill was £800, I might have had some other work done though. I recommend them if your anywhere near Newcastle, Swift Motor Engineering in Westerhope

I had a new DMF, Clutch and slave cylinder from eBay last year for £372 plus £160 fitting! My car is a 2.0 tdi 6 speed manual.

So looking at at least £800 for skoda to do it then :(

Yep that's the difference between an Indy and a dealer. Source the parts yourself and use a good local mechanic to fit them, you'll save hundreds! I used all OEM parts but found them cheaper online with some searching....ebay!

Is there a BIG difference between a PD140 and your cars as I am being quoted significantly more than that for a DMF & clutch replacement.

Skoda fixed price is £489 for just the clutch... (http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/national-pricing/maintenance)

Best price I've had is £1200 for both from an Audi independent specialist. Skoda were over £2200.

Or have I missed something in the original question?

I'll see if I can find the eBay listing I bought!

DMF and clutch? Or just DMF?

How do you know whether its a Sachs or a LUK kit fitted?

A friend of a friend works for an automotive distributor and they deal with LUK but not Sachs...

Might be able to get a LUK kit cheap if that is what I need.

£1300 was for the DMF and Clutch they would only do them at the same time. I think mine was a LUX kit originally but i can't remember exactly. Got a Sachs / Helix Organic kit on there now.

That's a similar price to the quotes I've had from an independent to do my clutch & DMF.

Which is why I questioned the prices in early threads of under £400 for kit & under £200 for fitting - effectively less than half price...

The fitting cost for mine was £200 at an independent, so i suppose it's just how cheap you can get the kit for. Maybe half price is possible considering how expensive the dealers are.

Think I'm going to have to see if I can work out whether Sachs or LUK is fitted to mine, hope it's the latter and see if I can get it cheap direct from a distributor / friend of a friend...

Then look at finding someone to fit it.

I've got DMF / clutch & cambelt / water pump to do, so could do with saving some money if possible.
