Hi people! Some of you may have seen my thread in general chat about buying a new car. I've been on here years and I used to have a mk1 ex police Superb 1.8t. It was a great car but I got bored. Anyway times have moved on and I'm now looking to replace my aging kia ceed. I've got a few options and one of them is to buy a pre-fl vrs (don't like the facelift look) and then spend a wedge of cash getting the performance up. I've been looking at Audi A8 4.2 tdis so I do want serious power but I'm really drawn to the Octavia. Economy will in theory be better than the diesel v8 of the Audi but what sort of power realistically can be achieved that is usable every day? I've had remaps in the past on other cars but I'm a relative noob.

Handling wise what should I be looking for too? I've been out in a standard vrs and was really impressed.

I'm also not a massive fan of the seats and would like something with more side support potentially. Has anyone done anything like this?

I've got the basics that I need maxidot, jumbo, rear electric windows, dual zone climate and 18" wheels. I will also want cruise but understand that its relatively easy to retrofit if the car I bought didn't have it. Is there anything else I need or should look for?

Pre FL VRS tdi 2.0

DPF removal + stage 1 or 2 map £450 - £650 depending on who.

rear arb (whiteline?) £170 ish

coilovers £400 - 500 roughly

Decent rubber (tyres) £5/600 ish

Brakes, I think they are good for what they are but maybe upgrade a bit.

Exhaust system (miltek) £???

polybushing and suspesion arms £????

If your not keen on the ftont seats something from golf mk5 gti, seat leon cupra mk2 or audi a3 will fit, however you will struggle to get the rear ones to fit.

Forgot to say I think I want the 2.0 tfsi.

Chris, see if you can dig up some of the posts by Steve "makefish" as his Mk2 Octy VRS was well tuned and sorted, have a read of some of JKM's threads as well.
