Folding mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi all

Was looking into folding mirrors , I've seen a few members on here have them and I wouldn't mind them on mine would make life easier , well I've been looking round and only ones I can find are these http://www.carwingmirror.co.uk/skoda-octavia-mk2-door-mirror/octavia-mk2-power-folding-mirror-unit.html but I'm not sure if they will fit a facelift or I'd need any extra wiring or coding in , any info would be great cheers

They will fit on FL, but you need extra harness from mirror ti the door control module since this pre-Fl mirror have short harness out...

FL mirrors have direct harness from mirror directly to door control module.

To have a folding option for mirrors you need to have a GEN3 of door control module (anny from FL, minimum MY2009).

Aa well you need to change knob for mirror adjustment (on drivers door) if you dinnt have folding mirrors before.

Door control module need to be coded with VCDS to activate folding.

You may also need new window motor system with ECU.

The electrical system is different than ones that donnot have folding mirrors. Even with used material + someone to do installation you may spending 400-500 quid

Thanks for the answers lads ! It's a lot of messing about I don't know why they don't come standard

On the fl vrs , gonna be expensive which ever route I take ! Are these standard on any vrs in Europe ?

Hmm so far I'm looking at

Folding mirror

Door module but being a 2010 vrs will I still need one ?

Extra harness

Door control knob

Vcds

Thanks

In Europe you need to specify electric seats first, then you can add the folding mirrors., same for RS and Scout. I paid 324 Euro + 225 euro for the options, but well worth it.

El. adjustable driver seat and el. adjustable passenger seat - driver seat with memory - 324 Euro - PWC

Electric. adj. heated and fold. door mirrors with auto dimm. and with Boarding-Spots - 225 Euro - PW3

Agree, too much work to retro fit them, but a few have done it in the forum I think.

I Have added Electric folding to my Vrs

It is not cheap buying new and finding used ones will be almost impossible. Only the L&K would have had Folding as standard

You will need 2x mirrors (these are about £230 each from the dealer)

2x Controllers which are also around the £230 mark

and a switch which is about £25

Oh that's a long way to do iit , maybe just go for same route as Eddie -nl it's not gonna be cheap and it's gonna need coding in after there fitted ! I best start saving and looking in scrap yard for smashed up l&k lol thanks fore info. Any idea where to look part from dealer ?

Look on eBay...

Supetb 3T, Audi A5

If you find only with folding you can later on add auto-dimming glass and auto-dip (dipping down in reverse gear, for rhis you donnt need seats eith memory function).

I added this both with no problems:rolleyes:

Ah fair enough then cheers mate I'll keep my eyes open for some a5 ones , iknow either way it's gonna take some doing but I really want them so just have to see how it goes lol hopefully get some that have all the functions but I'll be happy at first with just folding ,

If you press and hold the lock button on your fob do the mirrors fold?

Eddie, you are right, my bad, sorry, on Superb there is bigger part that is attaching to the door itself.

So bade part, but the rest is the same. Problem is that spring that holds base part together.

Chears!
