All Skodas pull to the left...Apparently!

Featured Replies

Since buying my Superb L&K when it had only 6000 miles on it, my car has very subtly pulled to the left.

It's not as if I have to keep gripping the steering wheel or anything, but the wheel is also off centre and when the car is doing it's 'slight drifting to the left thing' the steering wheel is centred.

When my offside front tyre was wearing on the outside edge, the Skoda dealer said at the time that is was most probably due to the tracking which was also causing the other problems.

At least this is what they said when I first started to take my car to them.

I felt most assured that they agreed with me and were on my side. :smirk:

However, when I started to indicate to the Skoda dealer that I was not happy with this situation ,  and maybe something should be done under warranty, I was told that 'All Skodas pull to the left'.

I came to the conclusion that something was definitely wrong after I had went to get the tracking done at an independent garage, and the mechanic said they could not adjust a 'toeing problem' out  probably due to a faulty part.

I was also told that I had probably kerbed it by Skoda and I know I did not.

I did not feel I was getting much respect from the Skoda guy, who happened to be their 'Warranty officer', so I pointed out that I did not visit their place just to be bullsh***ed.

I also pointed out that none of the four courtesy cars that I had from them in the previous weeks due to other problems did not do this.

Since my brother in law coincidentally was in at the same time as me doing the finishing paper work on his brand new Octavia that he had already driven for a week, I said to the guy 'look there is my brother in law over there, I will ask him'. His reply....'eh, no Mr Smith, you do not have to do that' in an abrupt and almost panicky tone.

That was 6000 miles ago and I am going into their main branch tomorrow to get the air conditioning fixed...again, with only 1500 miles to go before the 30000 mile warranty.

So the purpose for this post...DO ALL SKODAS PULL TO THE LEFT?

I noticed that problem after 2 miles of driving my brand new Octy III.

Mine is booked into a Skoda dealer that has 4 wheel alighnment after Easter.

My Octy II never had this problem.

No.  Only Faulty ones

Do a google search

briskoda fabia mk2 pulling to the left

Several threads as the saga continues. over 3 years now for some owners.

With Fabias they 'Skoda uk, approve the change Dunlop Sport Maxx or Continetals to

Pirelli Zeto Nero to hide the pull to the left,

Never say whats wrong with the Dunlops or why they still fit them.

Many of us run the Dunlops totally trouble free, and no pulling to the left.

you have the Auto Express article from a few weeks ago concerning a Monte Carlo owner.

Not all Skoda or VW's pull to the left, only ones that leave the factory wrongly set up.

Mine did after only 1,000kms.  Tracking was out badly and I didn't do anything major that would have caused it to be that way!  It still pulls to the left very slightly at times but that could be the camber of the road possibly?  Do you notice any vibrating or booming noises by any chance?

Funny as it's not the first time I have heard this, add to the fact that mine always did it ever so slightly.

Maybe ...

So politically they have Marxist or Trotskyist tendencies then?

My old Superb MK2 drove dead straight, but I did have a full 4 wheel alignment done just after I bought it. Rather than use the dealer, I decided to pay for the alignment and took it to a specialist who only do wheel alignments, the operator of the machine knew it and the multitude of cars like the back of his hand.

After having the alignment sorted the car was transformed, I can thoroughly recommend Wheels in Motion located in Chesham although obviously way to far from Fife.

My V6 Skoda Superb combi does not and never has pulled to the left. If steering wheel is not straight when car is driving straight then there is a major alignment problem. If wheels are unmarked then it is not a kerbing problem. Had a similar issue with my previous Audi quattro  and the bottom line was it was a warranty problem.  I assume it has original fitment tyres so the car is as sent out from factory. Dig in your heels and tell'em to fix it.

Safer than pulling to the right, I guess...

Safer than pulling to the right, I guess...

Not in Europe...

Mine is straight down the middle.  Not a copy of the Guardian or Telegraph in sight.

A lot of pulling to the left is due to the camber of our roads, apparently British roads have a steeper camber than roads in Europe to aid drainage. I've noticed it on single carriage way roads but not on Motorways too much.

Nope, mine doesn't pull to the left. Not a hint of it.

Nope, ours didn't.

Front impact before you owned it?
