Still having electrical failure to the twin boot

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After replacing the old 70AH battery with a new 75AH car battery in a 2009 tdi greenline, my twin boot failed to open once again.  Having read all the posts on weak car batteries on this web site I headed out to buy a new one to solve this ongoinig problem.

got a VCDS plugged in approx 2 weeks ago and one error came up for a glo plug, got that sorted, but no other errors showing.

The only way I get the boot motors working again is to disconnect the car battery for a minute then reconnect again and away we go, the boot operates normally,  until another few weeks when to me it looks like a reset is needed (hence disconnecting the battery).

Can anyone figure out why a reset is needed every time the motors fail to operate and once done they work fine,  and if anyone has a solution as I know it will happen with the wife some day and she will not know where to start to fix it.

Is it a higher powered battery needed or is there something that the vechicle diagnostics can sort.

your advice and opinions on this would be greatly appricated.  Thanks.

Had to disconnect the battery 3 times since posting this, this is wrecking my head,

is there anyone with any idea as to what the problem is,

please help.

thanks

Might not be from battery: there is a known problem with the electrical cables to the twindoor: in time, because of the opening/closing, the electrical cables tend to sever and this causes failures in opening.

This issue is well known with the dealers/services - they replace the wirings to the boot.
