First skoda

Featured Replies

Hi everone, bought my first skoda on monday, 2001 octavia, black vrs, 93,0000 miles, needs a rear wheel bearing , but overall very good condition, will give it a full service, bought all the filters from euro car parts for £23, mann filters, and bought 5 litres of fully synthetic 5/40 quantum oil from skoda linwood for can you believe £23 , bargain as asda wanted £28 for castrol edge in 4 litre packs, skoda wins, asked the dealer what a timing belt and water pump change would cost and the bloke said £300 fixed service, sounds too good to be true, but will get it done if its not bull****, anyway have too buzz off now on nightshift, hpoe to have a trouble free life with the vrs, future classic I think.

Welcome to the mad house!

£299 at Skoda dealer is part of their national fixed price service, so not bull****. http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/national-pricing/maintenance

But £399 with the water pump which would be recommended by many on here.

You can get that cheaper by buying the kit yourself and/or going to an independent for fitting.

My nearest local VAG specialist (Audi) will do cambelt & water pump for £299 on all 1.8 and 2 litre petrol engines and all1.9 and 2 litre diesel engines for £299.00 all inc., so yours should be cheaper than that.

Thanks, will look around my area for a vag specialist, but £300 seems good from a dealer, cheers tommy.
