Interior lights, god bless VAG electronics..

Featured Replies

Hi all, just bought a vRS estate, love the thing, apart from the silly VAG electrics!

Got no interior lights at all, nothing, checked fuse 14, all good, took interior light cover off, to find no bulbs.... Hmmm.. Replaced bulbs, still nothing!

Also have bizzare problem with drivers door, won't lock remotely and drivers wing mirror does not work either, or the puddle lamp, the alarm LED... Or the rear window lock out actually...

Everything else works fine, all other doors lock remotely, all the windows wind down electrically (including the drivers) so I'm kind of hoping it's something stupid, and not a control module? Have got a code reader, just need to find it :s

Anyone else had this problem and found it was a easy fix?

Cheers!!

Possible drivers door locking mechanism.

If this fails depending on issue, you will get no door puddle light and or no interior light as they are linked.

Also you may get no door open light on dash when you open door.

Door locks are common to go wrong and are well over engineered with 4 micro switches in them. When they start playing up it can be a bit of a hit and miss to get direct to the bottom of the issue.

I did this guide in the "pinned" section on main page of Octavia MK1 forum that might help , plus it also shows pics of door panel and lock removal which may be helpful too.

I shall get a latch ordered up, I've just taken the panel off, and the wiring is a right mess! A red and yellow wire leading into the wiper motor has burnt out totally, and earth going to the latch was shady. Checked earths, and cleaned them up and refitted but no different. Just don't understand how the interior lights can totally fail, along with the drivers mirror!

Ah well, nice to have a motor to tinker with anyway!
