anyone dismantled a pid

Featured Replies

OK stupidly I spilt coffee on the pid unit without noticing

Pid works fine but I have shadow on the upper part of the screen

Just wondered if they have an inner screen with a outer cover as its almost like there is coffee between the two

Pretty handy taking things to bits but wondered if there's any pitfalls or clips that ping out when you take the screws out of the back

Oh and its a early Navigon unit

Not had one to bits but I guess, as it's a touch screen, there is no gap between any layers.

A few days in the airing cupboard might to the trick but coffee gets difficult to remove once dry. Kind of like sticky coffee grounds.

Pit falls of taking it to bits... External buttons usually have a leaf spring behind them. Normally held in place by lugs of some sort.

That old phrase springs to mind... It it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

I think it just needs cleaning inside

Your right I'll probably leave it until it dies altogether

I've had a couple of them taken apart. The screen is a whole unit (touch unit and LCD are "one" - like an Iphone). You wont be able to clean it. But you can chance it. A new screen is aproxx 55 £. It is easy to change

Was it ground coffee or Instant?
