Superskoda - vs - HM Revenue & Customs - vs - Customer Service

Featured Replies

As a word of caution… be careful when purchasing from Superskoda.com (Kopacek Import), especially if you live in the Channel Islands or intend to purchase high value products.

Following a 22 day wait for an order from Superskoda.com, 18 days of which the items have spent held by HMRC due to 'missing or wrong customs data', my items are now speeding their way back to the Czech Republic rather than towards my doorstep.

Following a brief but interesting series of conversations with Parcelforce (International), who act as the UK agent for Superskoda's courier, GLS, I am informed that repeated attempts by them (via GLS) to obtain the required information to allow the goods to clear customs have been met with absolutely no response, and that the bulk of their (Superskoda's) consignments destined for the Channel Islands, or of goods over a certain value, end up being returned for this reason.

On my part, three emails to Superskoda have been met with no response, their listed phone number on their website (a Czech mobile) is inoperative with only a recorded message available in response to any attempt to contact them in this manner, and their listed fax number is also inoperative with again only a recorded message in response.

Whilst many appear to have received their goods without issue, it would seem I'm not the only one to have experienced an anything but problem free purchasing experience from them as the thread Anyone on here speak Czech? will testify.

So pay by PayPal and (IMHO) don't expect too much on the customer service front!...

Credit card pay is also a safe way of getting your money back when the worst happens. Raise a dispute and the CC company will contact the retailer. If the retailer fails to respond they will issue a charge-back and credit your account.

Looks like this will be the course of action…

I understand Horton Skoda are a good source for bits at reasonable prices, so at least there's an alternative.

I got a full refund on my order through Paypal - I emailed them a description of events and gave them the tracking numbers and a link to GLS' website.  I got my money back within 12 hours.

I might try Horton's but I think i'll speak to Paul's Motors first (we're lucky that at least one VAG brand isn't a Jackson's franchise in the western isle).  Good luck getting your dosh back!

Yeah… I noticed that you have a non-Jacksons dealer over there.

Post your findings when you've spoken to them as if worthwhile might give them a bash myself… got to be quicker than getting stuff from CZ… hell I could swim there on a good day!

Will do.

Now you know why I bought my first Skoda back in 2007 :).  It would have been a VW except for the money-grabbing nature of that particular dealer (I had Golfs etc in the past and was fed up of being ripped off all the time and having unnecessary work done to the car).

Paul's is altogether a different experience
