Fabia 1.4mpi?!? Re-mapping!

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone round here have taken their cars to have a Remap or improved the Performance them selfs by adding a chip or something! Just looking to improve the ability of 2nd and 3rd gear as car takes about 2,5k rpm to move a bit quicker! If anyone knows the costs and also if is worth it please share your opinion! Again my car is 1.4 mpi so I don't exactly know if doing this will make a difference! Thanks

Not a lot to play with really. I know of one that was mapped and made very little difference.

Depends on how much you're willing to spend to get more from it...

...If you love your 1.4 to pieces and aren't willing to part with it, there are plenty of ways and means of increasing power.

The last MPI I had I managed to get a fair bit out of it before I sold it - consisting of filter, cold air feed, uprated injectors, modified inlet manifold, larger throttle body, modified exhaust manifold, and a high-flow exhaust system with a reground cam and then re-tuned.

I know a guy in Greece who I got to know rather well, who has his MPI at 120hp with a turbo, a megasquirt, an extra injector, and Wossner pistons. It's insane, but in a good way.

It all comes down to budget and how much you don't want to get rid of the one you have to replace it with something more powerful at stock.

If you're not willing to spend much on it, you'll find that at a basic level if you add an uprated filter, cold air feed (I did an old guide on a pikey cold air feed that worked massively well!) and a high-flow cat and muffler on the back will see your usable power increase noticeably.
