Love my new FL Yeti...But..

Featured Replies

Fred, I'm confused. The number I quoted was off the Rearguards site. I thought the top of the painted bumpers on Standard and Outdoor bumpers was the same. I'm also confused as they put me on their waiting list a month or so ago and I had heard nothing.

It looks OK but I'm also confused now as the answer I got from them was "Although we do not presently make a rearguard to fit the new Skoda Yeti, we are aiming  to do so in the near future. Therefore if you are agreeable, I will keep your details and when it becomes available, I will contact you with some prices."

jerbear, as regards delivery and fit I can only quote from my last experience with my Roomster. Delivery was quick and fitting was simple.

I have just emailed the person at Rearguards who sent me the message, we'll see what she has to say.

I've only had the FL Yeti, but I cannot see why the water ingress would be any different between it and the original pre-facelift model? As the doors, roof & side frame are identical.

And despite the "biblical downpours" we have had since taking delivery of ours, I cannot say I have noticed any issue with water falling into the car when opening the doors (the odd few spots maybe, but no worse than any other car I've owned), or any water pooling on the boot top below the tailgate either.

Our 4 month old Yeti clunks when we start reversing and is very annoying. Also has something loose rattling around in the tailgate every time we shut it. luckily this can't be heard when driving. Going to take it back to the dealership. Oh and the brakes sound like they are binding slightly.

Reply from Rearguards today;

Dear Fred

Yes, the RBP722 is suitable  for the Skoda Yeti 4x4 outdoor with painted bumpers built from October 2013 to date. The cost of a back one  is £48.86 (including vat and carriage) and the cost of a silver, carbon look and brushed alloy look version is £57.64.

Its just become available so well spotted!

Kind Regards

Janet

I'm thinking that "back one" means black one. So for anyone awaiting a reply from Rearguards that was it!

Fred

So, do we think I am correct in assuming the top of bumper on Outdoor and regular are the same. If so the guard should fit either vehicle and is another thing I will have to buy.

Colin the message from Rearguard does specifically say "Outdoor" so unless someone with a "regular?" one can compare with an Outdoor you're on your own.

Sorry to everyone, we seem to have gone off topic.

Fred

I've only been reading this with half an eye but heck guys can't you just Google Image search the two types of rear bumper!? You will very quickly see how different they are:

From that its pretty clear that the Outdoor and City has the red reflectors in totally different positions and that the Outdoor has a protruding lower black section that is not flush with the sliver of body colour bit above it...  to name but two things. I'd suspect the reversing sensors are also at different heights perhaps.

The top face where the protector fits looks identical....to me.

I tend to agree, from those pictures the top face looks the same. Mine is identical to the last picture.

I have just fitted a black top bumper protector on my FL Yeti from Richard Grant Mouldings, it did take 11 days to arrive, but it works with the rest of the car fortunately.

Just get a strip of helicopter tape and cut it to size. The beauty of copter tape is that its clear and therefore doesn't spoil the look of the bumper

Looking for something similar myself Steve. Have you got a link? And maybe a photo of it fitted? :)

Thanks Fred. Now ordered
