Borbet rims... What tyres?

Featured Replies

So I picked some borbet rims up earlier, they have tyres already but need replacing...

The fronts are 16x8j and the rears are 16x9j.

They currently have 225/50 R 16 tyres which look ridiculously big.

What size tyres would you recommend, with maybe a little bit of stretch?

Would my original 205/45 R 16 tyres be of any use on the front maybe?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Many thanks,

Jamie.

I had Borbet A with 195 45 16 tyre on a 7.5j and 205 45 16 on the 9j

Thanks for the reply dav, have you got any pics at all of the rears? Was there a lot of stretch?

I'm in desperate need of help with these wheels...

Test fitted the front (8j) today with the 5mm spacer to clear the shock and the wheel sticks out ridiculously! Is there any legal requirements for this??

It still has the 225/50 tyre on, so that probably didn't help, but with a stretched 205/45 tyre on would that not look so bad?

I don't really want to have to buy tyres to find out that I can't run them...

I hope you can give me the right advice on this situation!

Many thanks in advance.

I'm no wheel expert but et is a big thing in running wheels, the lower the et the more the wheel will poke. May be worth talking to 'vrs burks' as he's good with wheel fitment :)

I imagine you will still rub on 205/45/16 on the nines so that is your only option really.

Jamie's fabia is also slammed quite low!

He had a good 30mm sticking out the side of the car on the front, looks crazy!

Sorry joe I don't really understand...

The 8j on the front with the 5mm spacer doesn't rub and spins freely, but as for being on full lock I'm not sure? Aren't you running 8j on the front?

Thanks.

Sorry didn't see your reply about the fronts I was just referring to the rear 9j wheel.

I am running 8 on the front with 195/45/16 but they are about et22. What offset are your borbets?

That I couldn't tell you, I remember seeing et38? But that could of been the 9j... I should have checked! Damn I knew I forgot something.

I'll check and post the et tomorrow.

Thanks Richard! :)

I had 195 40 on 8j and 205 40 on 9j never rubbed once [emoji106]

So i was advised by revolution motorsport today I would be better off running 205/45 all round...

would that work??

195 45 16" on front and 205 45 16 on the rears

I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't end up with ABS errors running different size tyres like that.
