Recent poor MPG

I dont think thos has been asked, from what i can see anyway.

Is the monte/vrs speedo calibrated differently than the other models then?

Becuase of the different rolling radius?

Or are they all the same, just different levels of accuracy depending on tyre size?

Brim to Brim I worked it out as 43.6mpg, not too impressed with that or am I being a bit optimistic hoping for more?

Depends on the kind of driving?

I got an average of 48mpg on a 275 mile round trip to wales yesterday. Completely mixed roads, from motorway and dual carriageway to belting around some nice bendy welsh back roads.

2 people, with air con on all day, as it was bloody boiling.

Width of the summers over the winters affects the drag coefficient & also increases the friction with the road, therefore a drop I mpg.....................simples!

The rolling radius of your winter wheels is 6cm smaller than your standard alloys, so the distance travelled on the speedo/trip would be greater. The fuel economy would be the same, so the ecu thinks you're travelling further on the same amount of fuel hence the higher mpg readings. It's this surely?

Could well be that.

Iv run the same tyres all year round and havent noticed a different in mpg tbh.

Seems plausible, my fuel consumption may be down a little but perhaps the warmer weather has encouraged my right foot!

tyres do make a difference but could be a lot of other factors, tyres pressure, make of tyres. have you hit a pot hole that could cause the alignment to change...

Not aware of any alignment issues. My pressures are set correctly AFAIK.
