Is this normal?

Featured Replies

Greetings fellow Skoda peoples!! Just one of Richie's many "quick questions......!"

I was out in the vRS today to refuel and visit my local Asda, nothing fast, having a blatt etc, just a nice gentle drive. I noticed that the engine cut off system didn't activate after I reversed into a parking space, ok, maybe the car is anticipating I want to move forward again...... Oh well, engine off and shopping I shall go.

Drove home and noticed again the engine cut of system stayed on with the A symbol displayed on the dash board....... Strange, user error perhaps.. I arrive home and turn the engine off. The fan stays on and is going like mad, as if it's trying to cool down the Sahara!! The fan stayed on for at least 10 minutes then turned off, during which, I checked the radiator fluid level. It seemed fine, well over maximum.

Is this normal, or should I get the car checked out??

+1 stop start does not activate if the conditions are not correct...i.e there is alot of electrical drain on the battery (climate, heated screens/mirrors etc), if the humidity sensor (where fitted) thinks the car might steam up inside as a result of the AC being stopped (had this once before) or if the car is doing a DPF regen.

Sounds as though your car was doing a regen.

DPF regen. Totally normal.
