Feel so disappointed In my vrs....

Featured Replies

Bought my vrs last week, been driving it for two days now and I can't help but feel disappointed with it... I've had 3 vrs's now and expected to get it and fall in love like all my others but it just feels... Kinda boring!

My last one was a 2004 with about 130,000 miles pretty standard performance wise but with a 170 remap.

This one is a 2005 with 90,000, plenty of kit on it and remapped to 170 also... It feels much slower than my previous one tho.

Thinking of selling the bits and the car to get an A3 or somthing...

Well today is the first day I've had a chance to spend some time with the car! Put it up on the ramp and stripped all four brakes. Both rear brakes were sticking on, the handbrake leavers were both f

  • Yes there is, it's always looking filthy and drives it's owner mad :(

  • I like my new one more - it's got leather and it's blue. I dislike my ride height currently...

I moved from a 2.0tdi A3 and would take my little Furby over it every time. Don't get me wrong, it's a much nicer place to be, but I was more thrilled by the drive in the Skoda than I was in the Audi, despite having 10 bhp less.

I know you know your stuff, Hutchy, but you haven't gone from a PD to a CR have you?

My girlfriend has a new mk7 golf, that's CR, don't really like that either haha

I'm split really... Spend about £1,000 on it and get some horses or change car.

Best fabia I've had...? 2000 1.9 SDI with 160,000.

My new one isn't as thrilling as my last one either, even though it's a faster colour.

Indeed, this one is silver, my previous was red. Would love a black vrs haha

Still have my heart set on a special edition I guess :/

Funny this tread came up because me and a couple of my mates were talking about this on the weekend.  I don't like mine as much as i like my 3 other mates Fabia's.  They all have the short gearbox where mine has the LOONNNGGGGGG box, they can put their into 6th at 40mph, mine can't go into 6th unless i'm doing 80.  It just bores me a little bit.  Their's are all more fun to drive than mine.

I don't think anybody dislikes the SE blue, but there is just something about a black vRS....

Could it just need a good check over / service?  Must be some reason the car is lethargic?  Maybe the remap is a load of pants?

It's had a majour overkill service since i fitted a new turbo the other day. I mean 10L of oil and engine flush including the sump being removed and cleaned with the oil pickup pipe being removed and cleaned!

It has a boost leak on the intercooler, a small hole, would this lose much power?

Most popular/common colour?

Get a petrol car.

I think you are bored with diesel.

Lose power, delay spool, increae lag.... Not huge numbers unless it's a crater or looks like a bomb went off but TESCO... (every little 'elps).

Swap it with my mpi.... you'll appreciate the PD lump a lot more in a matter of minutes and by then i'll be well up the road so it'll be at least a day before you get it back... absence makes the heart grow fonder :D

I do alot of motorway miles (1100 since last Tuesday!!) and I'd love the long box!! I hate it revving at 2500 at 80 :(

And black isn't all its cracked up to be, looks stunning clean but the fabia must have the worst body shape ever as when it rains it gets minging from the rear doors back.

I'd say get a decent map on it, probably lower torque than your others. If I got another it would have to have a faboka high torque map on

My 1.4 3 pot revs at 3000 at 80 but I guess you expect it from a smaller engine. Not sure what kind of gearbox it has though

Fed up with mine at the moment, needs a clutch and service.

I'm beginning to feel the same, I've had nothing but trouble with mine. Cam shaft went, starter motor switch thingy went twice, Clutch gone, seats are degrading far quicker than any other car I have driven. This is all within 1 year of ownership, granted it's done 130,000 but still a shed load of cash spent on top of the £3k price tag

I like a little blast in it but to be honest, 130bhp isn't exactly mind blowing for a "Performance" version of a car.

I'm going to play about with it a little bit, try and personalise it a little bit and make it my own.

It did look rather nice today sitting in the sun. I also done a full diagnostic check on it to see if any faults showed up, takes about 10 minutes to scan everything and only came up with one old fault code which cleared and hasn't returned!

I was told it would need a clutch as it was slipping on full boost in third gear. Clutch seems fine to me and doesn't slip at all... This has got me thinking when the turbo failed it may have damaged something inside the engine giving it less power??

You said it had a boost leak, start by fixing that and then do a little data logging and see what it shows.

Oh and the offer of an mpi swap for a few minutes hours still stands. It will feel like you're driving a Ferrari afterwards :D

Go for a ride in the passenger seat. Feels so much faster. Or it could just be r lasses driving :D

Picking up my intercooler tonight an putting a fuel treatment in at the same time.

Will see if it gets many horses back!

VAG PD lumps don't require/like fuel treatments... just use your remaining fuel then take it to a shell garage fill it with nitro diesel and after a couple of tanks you'll notice a much improved feel to the vrs... I don't use anything but nitro diesel now and mine flies with just stage 1 remap.
