Had a look cheers. Anybody know what's the difference with vag com and vag com pro is the programme the same or is their restrictions in the cheaper option.

VAG com is now called VCDS. VAG Can Pro is a completely different tool that basically does the same thing but is made in Europe rather than the US.

FYI, the ebay link mentioned previously seems to be selling the Gendan (one of the official UK VCDS suppliers) Hex Usb power bundle version of vcds. See here:

There is a useful product comparison tab on that page for the different versions. As trundlenut says the software is the same, the different cables allow you to use the software with different generations of VAG cars.

More info on vcds can be found on the developers website here:

I have looked at several sellers of the vcds and currently the cheapest I can find is £263 for the non pro version. After finding out what the differences are I don't really need the pro kit as I only tend to work on later stuff and if I need to a good friend of mine has the pro kit so I could use his other leads.

The Marshall's kit on the ross-tech list is that price, and comes in a really useful hard case to keep your investment safe. They deliver really quick too. http://www.mi-uk.com/products/ross-tech-vcds/
