FARB bushes - recommendations please.

Featured Replies

Hi All

Can anyone give the part numbers of the front anti roll bar bushes?

Are there nylon bushes that are exact replacements?

I may be wrong but I think Skoda only sell the front anti roll bar as a complete assembly with bushes attached. It looks like the part number is 1K0411303AM but check for yourself here:

You can likely get poly bush upgrades if you are wanting to sharpen the response at the expense of a bit of comfort. See here for example:

I had a look at mine last night whilst changing a driveshaft, looks to me like they can be changed.

the standard bushes look like a one piece complete bush, but I think you could get an aftermarket with a slit in it, slip it on and away you go.

either way it dont look like to much trouble to sort.

The clamps can be very fiddly as they sometimes fuse together but I don't see any reson why you would need to buy a whole new farb just to change the bushes. You can buy standard bushes or upgraded ones (Powerflex/Polybush) plus new clamps which is far cheaper than buying, removing and fitting (labour) a whole new bar!

Give Skoda Parts a ring, they should be able to tell you: 0845 337 7005.

Take a look at this thread:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/274773-replacing-farb-bushes/

The golf mkv thread linked from post 10 of the above thread also has some useful info.

Basically it looks like you will probably need to remove the farb from the car to replace the bushes and your only choice for replacement bushes are poly ones.

no need to remove farb, access is good enough but need front end off the ground to unload the arb.

2 x axle stands or get it on a lift.

Thanks for the input guys. I have some more questions now.

I was thinking of changing the farb bushes whilst puting on a full suspension kit (broken front spring) and rarb. When I looked at the nylon bushes in the link above, there were different diameters of bar. Which is the correct size?

The car has done 50,000 miles so are they worth changing?

Am I correct in thinking that the car must be on the ground (weight on the suspension) before the arb, rarb and wishbone bolts etc are tightened up?

I understand one should take a measurement from wheel hub to the wing arch before starting then you can use jack to raise the hub to the correct height whilst the cars is still up in the air?
