In store laptops,

Featured Replies

A family members laptop has died and they urgently need a new one. As the disc is ok I can pull anything not synced online

Looking at this which is available in their local Tesco to grab and take home.

Or has anyone seen anything else running Windows worth considering for the same budget??

They're looking to grab something tomorrow or Saturday morning.

Looks good to me. About the best for the price compared to curry's. They have a very similar Asus model with marginally better CPU but looks bulkier and less battery life.

I did notice that one, but it doesn't seem to have a DVD drive.

the only other thing you could try is a refurb at a local shop. You can't expect too much for £250 I'm afraid.

Looks pretty decent for the price. It is not going to be the quickest machine but with £250 as a limit, you aren't going to get something that will fly through tasks other than email/ Office.

As long as it can email, access the web and a few office tasks, thats all thats needed.

Only downside in laptop shopping is seeing what I could now get for what I paid for my HP.

Went out of stock yesterday.

But deal is on until the 18th if they can hold their nerve into next week.

I've swayed away from a tablet as they're older folks.

As for chrome, whilst I would, none seem to have a screen bigger than 11"

You might find they'd take to the touch screen quicker than you think but you're right about screen size it is limited on tablets and Chromebooks.
