Highest mileage 1.6 TDi on here? (Poss Greenline)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 61 plate Greenline as my company car. Its just ticked over 60k miles so by the time it goes back in Feb next year I expect it will be on around 80-90k.

What stuff usually goes wrong with these at that sort of mileage? I'm thinking of buying the car, running it myself and taking the CC allowance instead but have no idea how much servicing, dpf, clutch etc etc will cost on this car as so far everything has been paid for by work. (Including £2300 for a new gearbox!! as I had a little accident with reverse gear)

Any high mileage 1.6 TDi owners on here? Any issues?

Thanks, Max

I have a Sept 2012 62 plate Superb Greenline SE which has just passed the 76,000 mark and has had nothing but general service items.

Should last well if looked after.

Looking on the Euro Car Parts website it looks like the Stop Start models have a different DMF, that and a clutch is about £700!

I have a friend running a 1.6 diesel taxi in Whitby. It's an 11 plate, now with 280k miles on it, and apart from the usual DMF problems,, it's been a really good car for him. It's still on the original turbo and even at that mileage is not using oil. Worst part of the car is the interior, with the usual driver's door card damage and a drivers seat that is looking decidely tatty. He loves it, and it's cheap to tax too!

If you haven´t any problems with clutch/DFP I wouldn´t worry.

Clutch is no diferent than other models (My megane at 40K had to be changed, it now has 188k and I can tell soon will need another)

How much different would it drive with an SMF? I don't feel its that smooth at the moment to be honest compared to my old Mondeo or my OH's A3 PD130. Its probably the abuse I've given it though!

alberg, is your car a genuine 140bhp? Do you have a dyno graph?

Do you have a link to the 1.6 SMF thread? I can't find it!

Off topic, but we replaced the DMF and clutch in my OH's A3 (8L) as it was rattling for a Sasch unit and a C&G Dual Friction kit which has now started slipping after 6000 (!) miles. I'm wishing I should have gone SMF after hearing your comments but the new DMF is in there now.

As a request , ain't off topic

You are correct Mike, i have now done 40k on remap.

I did notice more particule filter regenerations in winter.

I don't do city and since putting 17" my average is doing around 5.5 at the moment , higher in winter.

Never once had fap issues. I also while back got a gasket with a 20mm opening to reduce air flow to the egr valve.

The 1.6tdi had it's rpm idle at 780( mine are at 850)

I do beleive that the 1.9 engine runs 880.

On the 1.6tdi under engine/adaptation/idle rpm correction. ( original 780 just add 70 and get 850 put zero to put it back to 780( 800rpm just add 20).

Need vcds/vagcom for this.

Having higher rpm on idle it's easier to start rolling, i usually just take my foot off the clutch pedal, slowly, rearly have to accelerate.
