Mother in law came to visit today and reported a problem she's having with her Fabia.

It's on a 05 plate, cannot tell you the exact specification, but it's pretty much base level territory. Petrol.

 

Over the past week or so on starting the EPC light doesn't always extinguish when she turns on the ignition.

Car starts and appears to be driving OK. Light will usually fade some time after she has driven, other times it won't.

 

I'm going to guess this could be any number of things? But is there anything "most likely"?

 

She's one for taking her car to a local mechanic rather than Skoda and I've got no idea what kind of diagnostic information he is likely to have. Guessing a trip to Skoda might be best to get some fault codes read?

A VAG specialist will be able to read the codes. The engine code is usually on a label under the boot carpet. If you post that and any fault codes found I'm sure someone will be able to help further.
