no Interior light and door light. also drivers door doesnt work on fob

Featured Replies

Hey all. Since I bought my car I have to manually lock the drivers door. All other doors work on fob. Also noticed the light in the door and interior light dont work. Unless u have the door nearly shut then they switch on. I did notice the gator on the door was hanging off. Could this be linked?

Yes, check the wiring inside the gator, sounds like you may have some broken wires.

Theres little cut marks in a couple of wires but nothing else. Took the microswitch out the door and it looks ok to me.

Ok so micro swith works. Turns lights on and off. The unit doesn't move to activate the button on the switch. So im guessing ill need a new unit.

Try the door control inside the drivers door. Cant miss it. Mass of wires going to it. Its known for getting wet not work correctly

Also check the connector behind the A pillar below the bonnet release.

Ok so found the faults :) the central locking was a faulty wire in the door that someone had bodged n broke. The microswitch was in good working order but the bit that touches the button was really worn so didn't touch the button at all. Had to get a new microswitch from maplins and stick it a little closer. Now it works.

I do now have another problem. My window makes a noise like something is hitting it inside. And the worse one... my door won't shut. Its stuck in the locked position and I can't seem to move it back. Can anyone shed some light?

When my interior light stoped working, central locking on key stoped and Windows wouldn't work it was fuse 5....

Fuses are fine. Door was locking and unlocking. Now just the pin moves when handles and fob are pressed but the bit in the lock is staying locked :s

Take a look at my lock issue.
The pics might help you diagnose your fault:

Iv since taken the lock mech out and turned it easily by hand so im a little confused as to what happened. Im thinking it might be cuz i pushed it into deadlock position while the other doors were unlocked and its somehow confused it? Iv tried it 2-3 times and its working fine. Iv left the door open and im going to try again tomorow before i put the door card back on lol.

It appears to be taking 2 pulls on the handle before the door opens. Iv tried this inside the car and outside.

Have you had the connecting plug off the door control unit to check for broken pins or corroded pins yet?. This caused me no end of aggravation on my vrs including a lot of the symptoms that you are having now.

That wire in the pic was going to the control unit. That was why I had no central locking and no wing mirror movement. Touch wood I think iv fixed it. The cable that connects to the outside door hanele waa pulled all the way out then pushed in. I went round the car and checked the other 3 and they were all half way. So I adjusted that and it seems to of done the job.

Did you actually remove the plug, or repair the wire in situ?, when I removed my plug, about half an eggcup full of water ran out of the control unit and the pins were badly corroded. None of this was obvious before the plug was removed.

Even if you have cured your current problem, this is the time of year to sort these type of problems, as they are really a pain when the rain comes back.

Just a question for curiosity sake, does the red led flash on the drivers door when the locking is engaged by the key fob?.

I know it flashes when its locked, not sure if it does as soon as you press it. Yes i undone the plug and fixed the cable. The pin was knackered and corroded so iv soldered straight to the bit the pin went on and drilled it out so the wire could stick through it. also had to stick the door membrane back on as it was  hanging off.
