Featured Replies

Hi,   My Skoda Octavia  mk1 Automatic,is now stuck in 3rd gear after a oil filter change and rear crank seal change ?

having googled the problem, and finding out its possible electronic shut down to safe mode [ ie poss  solanoid or electric supply etc... ]  can anybody tell me how to go about to rectify this problem please ?

Info i found !!     cheers Eric

This can be caused by several different things. First the onboard diagnostics have detected a problem and have shut the power off to the shift solenoids which defaults the transmissions to 3rd gear. Second the transmission fuse is blown ( sometimes this is called the ecm2 fuse) which kills power to the shift solenoids and defaults the transmission to 3rd gear. Third is low battery voltage or weak battery. If battery voltage drops below 10 volts sometimes the computer will put the vehicle in a failsafe mode and turn the power off to the shift solenoids ( thats right 3rd gear). These are the most common reasons but by no means the only. This should get you started , Have the codes pulled and a diagnostic run. If the transmission side of the computer is active then you know the fuse and power supply to the computer are ok. You will most likely find a code that points you in the direction of the problem.Be aware that many times the code will be for a solenoid , such as shift solenoid A . This does not mean that this solenoid is bad only that the current draw is not what the computer thinks it should be or the desired ratio is not what it should be.The computer has no way of knowing if a band is broken or a set of splines are stripped.Good Luck!

Do you have any updates? I have the same problem now since the transmission fluid, some solenoids and the solenoid harness were changed
