H&R -50mm kit fitted (with pics).

Featured Replies

Full suspension kit fitted last night. (Pics show winter wheels, changing at weekend).

Also got a Whiteline RARB fitted on medium setting.

Height to top of wheel arch.

Before:

Front: 665mm

Rear: 674mm

After:

Front: 647mm

Rear: 651mm

I assume it will drop/settle a bit more.

Very nice ride, not harsh. Soaks up bumps and goes round corners easily and with minimum roll.

Back end used to skip round corners over any bumps on the road. Feels much smoother and safer now.

Looks good that. They should come at this height from factory not the ridiculous arch gap they do come with. I swear 90% of cars on the road are lower than my vrs.

I am hoping it will drop a bit more. Going to run it for a few weeks and then get a 4 wheel geometry done on a local place with hunter kit. It drives straight at the moment and feels fine but I just want to make sure I don't get the sawtoothing I had when I first got it.

I think it looks spot on that. Not overly low. What's the quality of the kit like? Im trying to decide between the vogtland 50mm kit and ap coilovers myself. I'm not interested in height adjustment I just want a well sorted handling suspension. And I've had the sawtoothing issue too! Which is why I thought I might sort the sus out if I need to get geometry done anyway.

Thanks for the pics, that's pretty much made my mind up on the H&R kit, my other option was Eibach coils which I've had before (and give a very comfortable ride) but that -50mm kit will give me the drop I'm after and some some money on the price of the Eibachs.

The kit is good quality. I was going to fit it myself but in the end got someone to fit it.

The only things they had a problem with was getting the old strut out of the cup on the hub and getting the new one in and the top mounts were problematic coming out so luckily I had new ones. I also had new droplinks fitted.

It drives really well. Very smooth and controlled feeling.

I will try and get another pic with the summer wheels on at the weekend.

Looks great, I can't understand the ridiculous height of the VRS from the factory. Look at all the new Vag cars that hardly need lowering at all!

looks good, nice height in the "after" pic.  not much of a drop though is it?  20-ish mm.   It'll look better with the vrs wheels back on.

I was expecting more like a 30mm drop but I read somewhere that it settles/drops a bit more over time. I will check it again at the weekend before I put the alloys back on.

That was the -50mm kit as I had read people putting on the -35mm kit or the Eibach kit didn't drop it very much but dropped another 10mm after a while. Glad I got the -50mm kit.

Looks like a nice balanced ride hight. Does a 50mm drop not cause any issues with anti roll bars catching drive shafts? I know any thing more than a 40mm drop on the old mk4 golfs caused problems.

It should only drop around 30mm - 35mm on the VRS as it is already 15mm lower than standard.

Mine has only dropped around 20mm so far so expecting a few more mm as it settles.

No issues with anything catching anything else as far as I know.

I just glides round corners now and has a nice smmooth ride when cruising along the motorway ertc.
