Which Nilfisk E

Featured Replies

Need a power washer. It'll be for the car and cleaning slabs.

After digging around here and elsewhere the Nilfisk E models seems to be the best value.

Need some advice on which one.

Clean store has the E120 for £140 with some extras inc patio washer.

http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=7590

It also has the E140 for £260 with lots of extras including most of the car and home related bits and bobs (E140 on it's own is £200)

http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=1003

Are the extras worth having or would I be better off with the cheaper E120 and just add bits if needed?

I have the E-130

Great piece of kit

Just be aware. My dad has one and it's proving almost impossible to get spare parts for. There is an o ring which has perished in the lance on the low pressure seal. This is a tiny o ring. Got a multi pack from maplin and none fit. I've got a spare seal pack for my karcher and none fit.

NorthWest powerwashers sell the part at 8quid with 5 quid postage. All for a 1p o ring.

Just a warning should you need spares, in particular o rings

This is a very good point.

Recently I had to bin a Bosch pressure washer just because I couldn't get a replacement `O ring`.

I would suggest that you always endeavour to get a few spare `O rings` at the time you purchase your new washer.

Regards

Mike.

I have a kew Alto which is the equivelent of what you're looking at (Kew were bought out by Nilfisk). it's now over 10 years old.

The patio cleaner and auto brush are not worth having IMO as the patio cleaner only works on very lightly soiled slabs (the nozzles spin round underneath the casing, bit like a diashwasher) and I'd never go near my car with that brush!

The auto nozzle and 90 degrees under body nozzles are definitely worth having as the 1st gives a nice wide soft spray and the 2nd is brill for under wheel arches. the x range have more durable hoses IIRC so again worth the extra.

Looks like you can get the o rings here?

I just got that e120 and i think its awesome :)

Cheers. It was the usefulness of the extras I was querying

Our patio slabs are manky so a little tickling with a patio cleaner won't do anything.

We need a new section on detailing patios now! :giggle:

I found that the patio cleaning fluid doesn't make much difference if you've got a decent jet wash either. I use a standard fan nozzel, got round the outside of the slab 1st with the fan at 90 degrees to the slab edge so you can avoid blasting the cement out of the gaps, then use the nozzel the same way you've use your rotary or DA polisher on your car

If the standard nozzel doesn't work I use the turbo one. The only downside is you get more spray than using the useless patio attachment, but I've seen splash guards in Aldi in the past that look like those things they stick on dogs and cats when they've been to the vets to reduce the reflected spray...

I've just bought the Nilfisk E120 from the same source and I've found as per many users (do a search in the Detailing World forum if you're interested) that the standard 8m Hp hose that comes with the machine is rubbish, not rolling up in the storage solution and kinking badly all over the place. I've therefore ordered a 10m replacement via Direct hoses (£33 with a voucher discount, again from advice via the Detailing World forum). So, if you're buying from new (and can do without the patio/drain attachments), you might be better off with going for the E140 at £199.99. This has a 9m anti-kink hose and a metal runner that feeds the hose through the reel. Cleanstore's picture needs updating, as it shows an old version of the model....see this one instead for what you'd get:

It also seems to have a lot of other small improvements and the added power may come in handy if you're doing more than just cleaning your car?

I was on the brink of ordering the E140 with the extras (meh it's not that much more) then suddenly realised my MOT is due, and Tax and insurance.

Bugger.

My kew alto died today, R.I.P. looks like the something has siezed as it just stopped working part way through and pressing the trigger you can hear the moter straining against whatever it is that's jammed. Ho hum, I've had it for ages and TBF it's has some serious use. The auto cut out packed in ages ago too so it was constantly doing the surge thing even though I replaced the pressure release valve and the hose is cracked so best not resuscitate it!

Ordered a new E140 from Cleanstore for £199 as I already have the extras that add another £60 to the price and thought the p series is a step too far. What with my little trip to nipponshine last night it's been an expensive weekend....

you've not heard the half of it! There's a load more new stuff in my garage waiting to say hello to the Nilfisk!

she's not spotted the doggy drier yet, so there could be trouble ahead......

I blame Chis......

Chris has a lot to answer for here too. I've spent more on car cleaning stuff than on fuel since I got it, but at least it's shiny.

But we love it really, don't we?

We do.... since I went to see him I had all 4 wheels off yesterday cleaning and polishing them by hand to remove some very fine scratches. By the time I'd put 2 coats of carbon ceramics wheel sealer on I'd been at it all day. SWMBO thought I'd lost the plot... 'HOW much longer are you going to be?' She asked after I went back out after tea to finish off!

Our cleaners husband is nearly as daft. She tells him he's 'going out to play' when he goes out to clean his car as if he's a small child, which I thought was both funny and accurate!

He also suffers from supermarket/retail park car park syndrome parking as far away from the entrance as he can only to find some tw8t has parked next to him even though there's loads of spare spaces so it's not just a Brisky thing....

Blame me....it's all my fault!!!

Wait till I get my new DA...you'll want that too!

No thanks Chris, got my own now. :D

Glad you're 'fessing up! Good job my weaknesses won't be showing up on our joint account.....

When you get this Chris can I come and have a look at it in action?

Of course Carl

No sign of it yet though

Hopefully within the next two weeks

Oh yes - they are nice... just beware of sales from the initial batches or test batches; as i know there was allegedly a factory issue seen manufacturing ramp-up

which has been the root cause of delayed release for sale. Buy from a reputable distributor and ensure you have warranty, paperwork etc.

I'm a little suspicious of Shaun Auto's

Why?

...Their website doesn't work and there seems to be no way to buy online......or is just that I cant understand their Face Page?

Can anyone help?

Clean your car said they had them now to be on the website at the end of the week £160. I just asked today while enquiring about the das6-pro.
