Hi there,

New to the forum as just purchased an 11 plate fabia vrs. It's replacing my A3 s-Line 2.0 Tfsi as it was getting a bit long in the tooth. Went for the fabia as I liked the styling, has got similar proformance to my Audi but with half the costs e.g insurance, tax etc

Did what I thought was a lot of research before buying my skoda and read loads of reviews from various magazines such as topgear & what car and they all said the fabia vrs was a good reliable car with good performance whilst being frugal. Noted skoda has also done well in the J D power surveys.

However after purchasing my car I stumbled across honest johns website which had page after page of report of oil consumption problems which after googling 1.4 tsi engine problems led me to this forum.

Fingers crossed I havnt bought a lemon!!!

Hi also from Devon.

If you want some reassurance I can plug in my vcds for a fault code sweep. I am in Exmouth

Thanks I might take you up on that :-)

Also as Car is still running 3 years on, maybe it's a good one, or has had whatever is needed to sort oil consumption issue.

That's what I'm hoping! My logic is that it's done 35k one previous owner (female) so if there were any issues the owner would of got rid sooner as most of the issues seem to be reported early on. Or she's got rid because it's going to be out of manufacturer warranty soon :-/

I guess we shall have to (excuse the phrase) suck it and see!
