Manhood Issues (not what you're thinking)

What a tool!

Did the right thing there. I've done that before too... just let the idiot go...

Some would debate it and stick with the 'advice' offered in the highway code as to increasing the braking distance to the vehicle in front, but this driver was erratic and had an aborted overtake with me under his belt too, so as I deemed it safe to do so after passing a junction on the left, I removed him from my vicinity. Don't want twits like that anywhere near me. I did feel a bit guilty for the poor sod in front of me though. :(

I always rationalised that i would rather have them behind me than in front of me, if they make a mistake and hit my car it's their fault not mine. But after watching what you did maybe letting them through is better.

^ my thoughts exactly. I just try to drive very predictably and either, I'll move away, or I'll move over.

Recently the tailgaters all seem to be driving the Eco-specials; what exactly do they have to prove? That you can drive at warp factor 5 and still burn no fuel?

I think it depends on the time and place, lay of the land etc. With him in front I have all the time and space to keep myself right from this specific moron. Unfortunately had it have been any other road in the area I would have had to put up with the dangerous actions of the driver behind me and the massive distraction to my own driving with him there.

Ironically the same here and the car in my vid at best had the 0.9 petrol which is the most powerful one they come with LOL.

i get this a lot not sure whether or not its the fact i'm a young lad driving a reasonably quick car, i also drive up and down to Scotland every week and don't see the point in flying down the a1 as its full of speed cameras and quite often get stuck behind lorries which i don't mind. often get business men type drivers in there German barges sit right on my arse, and if im stuck behind a lorry ill leave a fair distance in case the lorry brakes and they try get there a6's and 5 series in this gap, they soon get a shock when the road gets twisty and they cant keep up

Ahh you have to love the prius drivers on speed.

As a former Mk1 Fabia vRS owner and one of the biggest fans of the model, I can assure you it's not because they can't keep up on twisties (as a 5 series owner) :P

If im overtaking on the motorway and some helmet is tailgating me for no reason, if after ive completed the overtake and the road ahead is clear... Only 1 thing happens ;)

Ive found merc and saab drivers to take most offence to my actions in this case

Quite true, an a6 is better and the 5 series more so.

To paraphrase goochie from many moons ago, it's amazing how many times you can win a race when you're the only one who knows you're racing.

A mini one can leave a fabia mk I vRS for dead around the twisters, so much so that they don't haul it in on the next straight.

Had something very similar the other day on the M1 just south of Leeds – but in the roadworks and a 50mph average speed check area – I’m doing 50 with traffic in all three lanes doing the same and three eeegits in big 4x4’s, one after the other, decide to try and push me along so all I can see if the grille in the back window - and, when I don’t give (its SPECS average speed camera’s remember and heavy traffic as it's peak hour), they decide to push through and undertake swerving between traffic.

What do these people not understand – its 50mph, it's roadworks with guys working a yard or so away (and believe me that can be daunting as I've done it), it’s an average speed check area, I’m doing 50, and so is the car a few yards down the road so how mu8ch further are they going to get???

Personally I think anyone who does things like that and speeds through roadworks should be made to stand two yards from a live traffic lane (effectively where the guys work) and have some t**t drive past them at 70mph - it might just scare them sh*tless and make them change thier attitude - it's risky enough working in those locations let alone having some idiot increasing the risks massively!

Whilst not defending the other drivers and not knowing the exact circumstances I can sometimes sympathise here.

Yes, it's 50mph and yes there are average speed camera's, however the 'keep left unless overtaking' rule still applies (unless there are 'stay in lane' signs).

Three cars driving three a breast across three lanes at 50mph is no different than a middle or outer lane hogger. For some reason people think that because the speed limit is reduced all other rules of the road cease to apply.

If you want to stick to the limit with the majority of other road users then just slot in behind or infront of them, free up lane 3 and let those who choose to exceed the speed limit past.

In the same way you can be sat at 70mph with cars passing you at 80mph, in a 50mph limit there will always be people wanting to do 60mph. Keep left and let them past, if for nothing else than to get them out in front of you so that you can at least keep an eye on them rather than having them hang off your rear bumper.

I must report that there is a new breed of this sort of uber important driver on the roads, it is not a Merc, 4x4 or pocket rocket car..... I give you the Dacia Sandero Stepway!

Traffic in all three lanes, very busy, all doing roughly the same speed give or take the odd mile an hour and no safe space to pull in to otherwise I would have...

I had it this morning with a guy in a Mini JCW. (I found out when he overtook me about ten minutes later on the A12)

Right up my rear end in a 30 limit, come the 60 I was gone.

He had no chance against the Yeti VRS. :giggle:

That alone makes it worthwhile already :D

one of my friends has a 525d and struggles to keep up with me on spirted drives on b roads at 7 in the morning, the case of "its not what you drive but the way you drive it comes in to play

his cornflakes are getting soggy?

It's not even restricted to cars! out on the bike yesterday, I enter a 30 zone through a village once out of the zone I accelerate slowly and the driver that was so close to my rear thought she would try to overtake (even in a high vis police style vest with cameras front and rear on the bike), never a good idea in a base model Corsa against a Triumph st, needless to say she was left for dead when I opened her up, never saw her again.

People just do not understand power to weight ratios do they.

A good rider on even a 250 will have a lot of cars up until 60-70 or sharp corners!

I have found, since getting the fabia, that I can choose to 'get out of the way' rather than plod along with no power to get anywhere when someone is acting the fool.
