Dsg faults

Featured Replies

Just booked my 2005 octavia in to get fixed, getting a lot of slipping from the gearbox in even numbered gears, and a horrible grinding noise at the same time. hopefully it's not too expensive. Any ideas what it could be?

It's either gonna be the mechatronics or the clutch pack.

What engine and how many miles?

Phil

The clutch pack is a gearbox out job, I had mine done under warranty!

Afraid you are looking at 4 figures, to do my clutch pack was over 2k for the dealers. Try and find an auto indy or get a 2nd quote at least. Did you get the dsg oil changed at 40k?

That's pretty low mileage really.

I think the oil change is quite important on this gearbox. My first 40k change is due on the next service (5,000 miles away).

Hope it's not 2k. The cars only worth about 3300

That's main dealer costs.

Find yourself an independent garage that know what they're doing with the DSG gearbox.

Do you know if you car had the gear oil changed at 40,000 miles?

To be honest with you know I'm thinking about it, I don't think it did

It might be worth getting the oil changed now.

It's the easiest and cheapest thing to try.

Unless of course the garage can categorically say it's a fault then changing the oil wouldn't help.

It's booked in Monday morning, from the feel of it and the noise I think it might be more than oil sadly

Got a quote of 753 including vat and gearbox oil change for a new clutch pack. Is this a good price from skoda?

That actually sounds pretty good.

A gear oil change is normally about £200.

The clutch pack isn't cheap either then with the labour on top I'd say it's a good price.

Any VAG specialist independant places near you? Would be worth while checking with them too.

Try Brookroyds. I've purchased a few cars off them in the past. ( Under the old Management ) but still get good reviews
