Hi I'm going to be replacing my thermostat/temp sender so therefore need new coolant, so basically which type do I get for a 2002 1.4mpi? says in the book G12, but I can only find G12+, G12++ or mostly G13, is the G13 just a replacement for the G12 and would be fine to use for my engine? I've tried doing searches on here but not really finding what I need, so any help would be much appreciated. 

 

Also does anyone know how much I will need? I'm guessing the system is about 6-7 litres? so would 2 1.5L bottles be enough?

I'm no expert but from what I've read on here and elsewhere, UK spec coolant mix for Skodas is 30% (40 in colder bits of Europe) so it should really be mixed before you fill up. I gather using the current spec of VAG coolant is fine for any Fabia (G13 now?) - it's topping up new coolant with old (G11 blue) spec that's a no no as it will create an evil gel. There was a really comprehensive thread I read before but can't find it offhand. I remember it also mentioned that it should only be topped up to the minimum level - though it normally can sit up to about 10-15 mm less than that.

Cheers for the reply and info mate, 2 bottles should be enough then I reckon, says in the book 40% so I'll probably go with that. Yeah it's got pink in at the mo, but will whack a hose through the system anyway before filling back up.

 

Hoping this will sort my epc light and lack of power/bad fuel consumption as the fuel sender's faulty at the mo

I beleive that G13 has superseded any of the G12 varieties and can be mixed with it quite happily.

I just use Halfords Advanced coolant in mine.
