How do I know that my bolero unit has the latest software update, my car is a 2010 octavia elegance.

You need to look on the casing label to see if it's a (IIRC) r53 or r54.

If it's slow to read mp3's from the SD card then it will be the former version.

Can it be updated to the new version?

Only by a dealer visit and then they'll still try and tell you it's not available!
