false positives for warning lights

Featured Replies

Last week had the 'bulb out' signal on the dash, stayed for a day or two then went away for the best part of a week before coming back for another 2 days.  Warning light has now gone off again, and as of 20 minutes ago all the lights i can think to check are working.

Also in the period in between the bulb dashlight brake pad warning light came on, though this only lasted for a commute home.  (Pads are fine, just been serviced and look healthy enough to my untrained eye)

Other than letting the problem develop is there anything to be done or checked?  The bulb false positive on its own wouldn't concern me unduly but 2 different false positives in a week makes me wonder.

Cheers

Are you sure it was the brake pad light? Did it have an exclaimation mark in the symbol? If it did, it could be the handbrake lever wasn't all the way down?

It is not that unusual to get a bulb warning some time before a bulb blows.

Sadly it wasnt the handbrake, similar but with 3 blocks left and right of a circle.

As you have just had a service, it is likely that the connector at the brake pad is loose.
