Tinting rear windows fabia vrs estate

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I did have a look at a couple of previous posts but could really find what I was looking for.

I've got mk2 fab vrs estate and want all rear windows limo black. Just after some advice on best way to do it really. Obviously all the windows are smoked already. Not sure what tint I would need to give limo effect? Have any of you guys done it? Cheers

Id take it to a professional mate.

My dad looked at doing it to the windows in the back of his van (vw transporter with 2 rear doors) and was told by a few different people not to even bother trying it himself. Its a very fiddley job that needs experience and skill to do seamlessly.

The professional he took it to quoted £70 for both his rear doors, but usually charges £130 for the full rear of a car.

The tint you want is 20% VTL (visible light transmitted) or even less. That said, I would be wary because you will find it hard to see out of the car at night. I'm also unsure of the legalities in your part of the world, so be careful with that. Tinters here will do what you ask, and it's your problem with the law and/or insurance companies.

In the uk, you can have whatever tint you want from the b-pillar back :)

Thats true about visibility. My mate cant see a thing out the back of his tinted civic at night

Surely the maximum amount of tint on a rear window must be regulated otherwise you wouldn't be able to see out of it?

Can you see out the rear windows of a Small Commercial Van without rear windows?

Try driving a van.

You can drive perfectly on the side mirrors. You only legally need 2 mirrors anyway

As Otaylor said, there's no limit from the rear doors/windows onwards.

Have them as dark as you like, it depends on the colour of the car as to what looks good or not, if it's a light coloured car then really dark tint looks too much.

I think the optional sunset glass level of tint is enough in most cases tbh.

Cheers guys. Mine is black so think it might look pretty good? I think if I had black wheels it might look too much. I think it would be pretty useful as I regularly have my dog in the car.

I'm not brave enough to even attempt DIY if I am honest. I think I'll take your advice Otaylor and take it do a spec place :-)

Is yours an estate of a hatch?

Sometimes i think black estates look too much with blacked out windows. A little like a Hearse aha.
