Mobby 'phone buzzing noise on computer

Featured Replies

What's that all about ey?

You finish a call and the intermittent noise continues for several seconds after you've ended the call, the same as it starts before an incoming call too.

Just being curious here on this one.

It also does it periodically too. The phone is talking to the tower.

Yes, you're right.

I have heard it do this randomly a few times but with no incoming call.

I appreciate it's interference of some sort, but who what why and when, and if it's interference, are our brains getting frazzled by it too?

Which is why it's not that good an idea to put your phone next to your gentleman's vegetables.

More seriously it's only what is called ionising radiation that is a big problem. Mobile phones operate at microwave frequencies that don't ionise but can warm an area but the power involved is so low it's not an issue.

Ionising radiation frequencies are things like UV, X-rays, and gamma rays

It's called a Location Area Code (LAC) update, as someone has already stated its the phone communicating with the Base Station to make sure it knows where you are and what BSC to route the calls/sms through.

+1

Basically the phone speaking to the nearest aerial to update its status and location should a message/ call be sent, the base station knows where to send the message to, the buzzing is the tower picking up the wave being transmitted by the phone on it's way to base station.

Nothing to worry about
