Illumination in door switches

Featured Replies

Has anyone looked into retrofitting illumination in the buttons for the central locking, mirrors and electric windows in the doors? The buttons looks like standard VAG components, which are illuminated in other models.

My priority would be the fitting of a passenger side window switch on the driver's side.

That does exist. Look the Up! up on the brazilian VW homepage and take a look ;)

Just found the partnumbers for the switch, trim and plug - if anyone has access to prices or similar:

Trim: 1SB 867 255A

Switch: 1SB 959 857

Plug: 1J0 972 724

Looking at the photo, that'll put the dual control on the passenger side, but for RHD cars that'll still mean there's no dual control on the drivers side - unless they do a RH door double switch… can anyone check if the part numbers for for LH or RH door trim?

I think the trim goes for both LHD and RHD.

Searching the web the switch part number comes up as a new B5 Passat master switch. The only trouble is I doubt all the wires will be there to controll the other window (and back light)

The 1J number might be generic, but the 1SB refers to Brazilian Up´s, I think. Have sent mails out to some dealers to request prices and aviability. The wires are not present, but that´s the easy part.

Oh how i love google and XP. The search i did threw up 1J4 959 857 not 1SB for the switch. Doh!

Any ideas if this is just a plug and play job?

It's most likely gonna require routing two new wires between the doors, a new plug and some soldering.
