Changing the order

Featured Replies

OK, you have placed your order and await the period in time when you can amend it, about 3 weeks after the dealer has placed the order on the factory,

So what can you amend, model, colour, engine, options etc.

Does anyone annoy the dealer with questions and possible changes.

You cant amend gearbox type I changed my order from a Outdoor 170tdi L&k manual to a dsg 4 weeks after first ordering and it had tpo be a new order. The L&K wasn't available with a 170 dsg at the time of first order.

After I ordered my Elegance within a few days I had negotiated with Skoda UK to have 16" Moon alloys rather than any of the 17" options; I'd wanted them all along but the dealer wasn't able to sort this out for me and there are threads elsewhere that confirm this to be the case, it wasn't just that the dealer couldn't be bothered. Next thing was a phone call from a concerned dealer to say it looked like they were getting two Yetis delivered for me. All quickly sorted out but it seems that even something as apparently simple as changing the wheels generated a new order for a whole new car (rather than a simple instruction to fit the alternative wheels at the appropriate point on the production line). I'm guessing if it caused that much of a problem just to specify alternative wheels you won't be thanked if you now want to change any or all of "model, colour, engine, options etc".

I only want to remove a few options and put that bunce towards additional warranty.

My major change would be the removal of Park Assist but retain the front sensor option. I was only having PA as a toy and I don't think it would get much use if any.

I've got park assist and like you ordered it as a "toy" - I think it added about £200 to the cost, over and above the cost of the front sensors. But I've actually found it pretty useful when I have to park in town, squeezing me into parking spaces I probably won't otherwise have tried. If I had to regularly park where finding a parking space is difficult I think having now had it on a car I would say it would now be on my "essential" list - and if the latest version will park in car park bays even better!

After my experience with just wanting different wheels I think "only want to remove a few options" may be being a bit hopeful. But shouldn't you be speaking to your dealer? Every day that goes by makes it less likely you will be able to change anything.

Yes, it's not only the self-parking ability of the car which is useful, it is the self-getting-out-of-a-tight-parking-spot which the latest system offers. Previously, if one parked between two self-parked cars one couldn't get out!

I may be exaggerating here? It would be the first time if so!!

Erm no...  I changed my manual Elegance order to a DSG three months after ordering....  But then I did wait seven months for my car.  :giggle:  And no we did not have to do a re-order it was the existing order that was changed.

I spoke to skoda and was informed that you cannot now change gearbox or engine type now without creating a new order.

Strange for them to now make it so limiting.

Seven months wait tells me the dealer reordered but did not inform you.

No this was in 2010 when something went wrong at the place making sunroofs. Everyone that had a sunroof on order waited that long. There was even a few months (that started two weeks after I ordered thankfully) that you could not even order a sunroof.
