Bluetooth for vRS with Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a vRS (MY11) with Columbus/Maxidot, biut no Bluetooth.

I have searched for posts, and have a basic understanding of what is required, but I'm not 100% !!

My understanding is:

Bluetooth can be retrofitted.  The box goes under the drivers seat.  VCDS will be required to tell the car that the box is installed. It will integrate fully into touchscreen, steering wheel and maxidot

But, I have some questions...

Is the wiring loom already in place?

Does it use an extra microphone, or does it use the existing one which is used for voice control?

How do I work out which Bluetooth module I need (there appears to be several different versions)

Any recommended places to buy the module from - I'll fit it myself.

Thanks!

I bought mine from www.carsystems.pl (including the loom and mic - for a bolero, but same principle). There's a member on here (Eddie-NL) who sometimes has units and looms for sale - worth a pm.

Back to the install, there are so many unit's, it's difficult to know - hence my use of www.carsystems.pl. I emailed them, said "I have X, what do i need" and then sold it me. It worked fine

There is no loom installed, so you need to buy. Most (if not all) have some connectors close to the head unit that allow you to use the same mike you have already. If you want the mike to go to the columbus and then BT, you connect one way. If like me, you need it to go to the BT direct (Bolero doesn't use mic) you wire the other way.

Really simple to fit, mine is under the passenger seat (slightly easier to wire than the drivers), but if you remove the glovebox, you can get the airbag light on for which you again need vcds.

Mine was about £200 but that was 4 years ago. i think these days it's more like £100 + £30 for the loom

I got a 5K0035730 rev b for the bolero in a 2011 vrs, so that would almost certainly work for you......

Thanks for the replies.

I have contacted carsystems.pl, and they came straight back to me with the correct part - it is currently 200 euros.

They have recommended a 3C8035730C, I assume this will support all phone types?

It will, but note you can possibly get a newer D suffix part on eBay. It might eben be less buying that plus the loom, mic etc from carsystems

Thanks, I'm new to the VAG / Skoda world (having had Alfa and Hyundai for many years!), so am slowly getting up to speed with all this!

It seems that the module is around £100 on ebay, plus about £60 for the cable.

I'll have a browse, then get one on order
