Just fitted Uniroyal RainSport 3's

Featured Replies

Just fitted the 225/45/17 to my VRS MK1 Octavia on the front as first wanted to see what they were like

Purchased from Camskill to at £66 each and fitted for £14 each makes a dam good deal.

I had Nankang NS2's fitted which ok are cheaper by £16 each but jesus that's the only positive on Nankang.

- In dry the Nankang were not bad.

- In the wet terrible

- noise level terrible

- wear rate terrible (10 months. approx 7k miles)

- tram lined badly

The RS3's well

- The noise level is fantastic( I thought I had wheel bearing issue with Nankangs they were that loud )

- the wet grip is awesome

- the dry grip great

- no tram lining

so far done only 100 miles but impressed

The side wall is a little higher than my older NS2's that were same size 225/45/17(maybe that just coz NS2's were worn). Could of probably done with a 40 profile but went for the correct size to 17 "wheel, plus the 40 profile may of kicked my speedo out.

So a big thumbs up from me....

I'm impressed with mine too but they do seem to be wearing quite fast on the front. I've covered maybe 4000 miles and already half way. So I'm thinking of switching them to the back soon as they haven't really worn at all.

Out and out grip in the dry is less than my last dunlop Sportmaxx RTs but the RS3s give you fantastic confidence for standing water even at motorway speed.

They are good value for money even if they do wear out in 10k miles though.

I've got them on the Ignis and they've been fantastic so far.  The bonus is that they are just under £37 each from Camskill in the size I need.  I've been pricing them up in 19" size for the Vectra - not so cheap.

Still, a cracking tyre though.

well my Nankangs i got around 6000 miles so if i get twice that i will be happy

I run RS2's and I love they. Only down side was the price.

Next week I`m buying tires but I can't decide between Vredestein Sportrack5 ,Hankook Evo S1 and Conty Sport Contact.

I can`t believe you run tires shorter than 10k miles,I had my tires 37k miles and still left 3mm.I know I run on 16s,but the gap is still huge

I used to run rainsport 2's which were great under 200bhp. Over that there pants. My gf has them on her focus and they dont seem to wear at all. Didn't know they made rainsport 3's

Well this is creepy, my car is booked in to have 4 RS3's fitted on friday.

Getting them in 205/55/r16. I wanted 50 profile, but the price jump was about £10 or so per tyre which was a bit excessive for me.

Getting it done at a local chain...Just under £240 all in.

If I drove it like a 1.4 I'm sure they would last a lot longer. The rears are barely worn at that. So if I rotate them now I should get around 12k before all 4 are gone. Also I hate driving with tyres that I know are past their best so I always change them early. The dunlops (front only) only lasted 7 months. Mine are also 16s

That depends on the 1.4 you are driving  ;)

Bookmarked for when I need some new tyres

Looking at the reviews RS3's are a big improvement over the RS2's

interesting, I may use same place for next set. What company are you using to fit as you are close to me.

Although £14 to balance and fit privately purchased tyres at Pro Tyres in Cosham was not bad, and i trust them over most tyre garages. Their 4 wheel laser alignment is spot on

£66 quid  plus £14 each to fit is still probably way cheaper than a garage would supply all in.

Got a set of Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2s on mine 225/45/17. They are better than the previous Hankook K107 S1 Evos (205/50/17), but the Hankooks were really good for the money. The Goodyears are amazing in the wet and dry and give great steering feel too.

Price was £314 for the set from tyreleader, plus fitting.

Just found out I need new front tyres. Guess what I will be trying.

This will be annoying. I want them on the fronts, but really I should have them on the rear.

They are very good, just don't take them on track, they'll get destroyed with the soft compound!

The only thing with them is how the design looks :D

Looks like they are on the wrong way hehe

Cool tho, my rs2 were always good

Shark skin rubber :) thats sounds awesome on its own ;)

@Bowders, F1 autocentre by B&Q. My experience was okay, they were a bit slow. Dunno how they would handle a car as low as yours though!

I've only had a quick drive and the wheels are definitely wobble free up to 70mph, not driven any A roads yet though!

The tyres do look very cool Lloyd, they've got a wavey section on the outer wall which is cool (but serves no other purpose) !

Iv got some conti contacts on mine. They squeal round roundabouts and it doesn't handle to great. Could possibly be my knackered suspension tho lol.

No they do squeel a lot I also have contis. But wet and dry grip is very good and they last very well but they're not cheap. The bill for 4 tyres was well over £400!!

Nah design is good buddy, not bothered about odd side tread as long as they do want they say on the tin, and so far they have impressed me loads.

In the dry the grip is ace and i seem to be able to launch car better,

What has really impressed me is how quiet the car road noise has become. Those old Nankang's were so noisy.

And they don't seem to follow rutt's in the road too.

loving them at the moment

anyone tried these Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002? Found them at 65 pounds ,and they just look sick :)

Can't wait to fit them next week

Looking at tyres myself and been weighing up whats what. Got budget primewell pz900 at the moment which they dont make anymore. The newer primewell sport 910 is the same price and scores 83% on the tyre review site

Had a chance to try my RS3's on some windy A and B roads last night. Absolutely FANTASTIC. The grip is even better than the RS2's.

I also went down a semi flooded road meaning I had a chance to try it's water shifting capabilities. Once again, bloody fantastic. The RS2's were incredibly grabby when hitting a puddle in my experience. With these the car barely tried to go off course. Maybe this is the reason for the straight channels down the inside of the tread?

That is the reason for those channels. Uniroyal RS3's are a big improvement over RS2's in a lot of areas from the reviews I have read including side wall wear, noise levels and even more grip in wet. The straight line running is great. My old tyres tramlined badly. Just love them.
