Just fitted Uniroyal RainSport 3's

Featured Replies

My old rs2 used to wear on the sidewall edge. Thought it was just my cornering ;)

Primewell 910's for me.

Just fitted the 225/45/17 to my VRS MK1 Octavia on the front as first wanted to see what they were like

Purchased from Camskill to at £66 each and fitted for £14 each makes a dam good deal.

I had Nankang NS2's fitted which ok are cheaper by £16 each but jesus that's the only positive on Nankang.

- In dry the Nankang were not bad.

- In the wet terrible

- noise level terrible

- wear rate terrible (10 months. approx 7k miles)

- tram lined badly

The RS3's well

- The noise level is fantastic( I thought I had wheel bearing issue with Nankangs they were that loud )

- the wet grip is awesome

- the dry grip great

- no tram lining

so far done only 100 miles but impressed

The side wall is a little higher than my older NS2's that were same size 225/45/17(maybe that just coz NS2's were worn). Could of probably done with a 40 profile but went for the correct size to 17 "wheel, plus the 40 profile may of kicked my speedo out.

So a big thumbs up from me....

Hi

In the market for some new rubber as well...

these RS3's are on my shortlist but I have 2 questions which I guess/hope you can answer

1/ how is the rim protection? I noticed you have the FR version which is the version with rim protection however it's a bit difficult to see on your picture.

how far does the rim protection stick out?

2/ how is the wear pattern? some people are saying that due to the design the tyres would wear faster on the inside..

how about wear in general?

Thanks!

Holy thread revival Batman!!

I wouldn't hold your breath for a response

indeed old thread but if the OP is still active on the forum or has email notifications active he could give some valuable feedback so I thought I'd give it a go...

off course anyone else who has experience with the RS3's is welcome to chip in as well

cheers

Have a look in the tyres section.

Personally I'm a fan of the Goodyear Eagle F1s - I've had 2 sets of Asymmetric 2s and fitted a pair of Asymmetric 3s to the front not long ago.

Hi guys I am still a active member and do still reply to Briskoda folks

my update on the RS3 would slightly change now even though I big'd them up well but it's hard to do a full review when you only just fitted em, as tbh the wear on them is not as good as I first expected and as quoted they still suffer from inner wear. I was down to very low tread on 8 months ,  however my VRS was well modified and I had some caster on front so I can't completely blame the RS3's. They are probably well up there in the top of the reasonably priced tyres for what they deliver.

And the fact that the stupid tyres are not symmetrical is a real idiotic approach by RS. (I know I am OCD lol)

I won't get them again

Never lucky enough to vrs it.. yet :D... and the poor auld tdi donkey left the stable in November..

Replaced by a hatchback insignia 160 se

When its time for it to move on, the short list is simple..

Octy vrs, mazda6 sportback (in the right spec) or... thats it really. A superb if a really good offer available.

Cant love the insignia, even though its not a bad car, so wont be getting another. And i need the practicality of the lift back so the options are few without going estate...
