How could Skoda have made your car better?

Featured Replies

As with any car I always think there a re a few things that could have been done better right from the off.

The question could be; What annoys you about your car? What would you change about your car?..................etc

Personally, the one thing that really winds me up with my 2010 Octavia vRS is the clocks are illuminated a different colour from the rest of the controls. I suspect everyone else's vehicle is the same but why have they illuminated the dials and maxidot in a subtle white / grey but then illuminated everything else green?!! It would look far better if all were the same colour as the clocks.

Simple - I would have liked the option to specify 15" wheels on my Roomster Scout.

Every other Roomster comes with 15" wheels and the option to fit 16" or 17".

Scout only comes with 16" and the option to fit 17", but no option to fit 15".

I wish one of my door cards didnt have an annoying little rattle.

They should paint drum brakes properly out of the factory IMO.

That would be all i think (:

Wish my octy vrs mk1 had a black carpet

2014 Roomster SE TSi. As standard: spare wheel, rear anti roll bar, 6 speed manual

Not use such silly interior cloth colours.

Intermittant wipers that are simply that.

Not some clever rain sensor that NEVER works as you'd like it to.... :@

Sunroof, but i guess that's down to the person who first bought it!

Top Screen tint, darker sunset glass, electric boot opening, usb connector, better heated mirrors umm....

I wish they had..

-Given it the PD150 engine

-not used white cloth on the seats

-made it lower with stiffer springs

-given it a rear anti-roll bar

-and maybe offered a 1.8T too..?

Slimmer 'A' pillars.

I wish they'd consigned rear beam axles to the scrap pile a long time ago and gone fully independent.

Also would have been nice if they'd tried to style the interior... haha.

My car would be a lot better if it was lighter

I think the Octavia III could be improved by looking back to the Octavia II. Whilst there are many areas in which it is an improvement over the older model, there are three areas where cost cutting has been the order of the day.

- The handbrake lever is on the passenger's side of the centre console so you have to "reach" over to it.

- The door cards are a cheap, black plastic rather than a leather inlay

- All of the inside door handles are the same moulded design; yet only the driver gets controls for the mirrors and 4 x electric windows. The rest make do with naff blanking plates.

I actually don't think the interior is a noticeable step up in quality over a mk2... take from that what you will.

I wished they'd made it so the door shuts properly instead of me having to get it adjusted 3 years after manufacture.

I wish it had air con, but that was down to the original owner.

I wish it had MDI, again, down to the original owner.

The glove box could have had a lid, but again, original owner.

The speakers rattle with some noises at some volumes.

First gear is a bit slow, you barely get your foot off the clutch before you have to change up to second.

The fuel gauge is pathetic and you can't tell how much you have left.

The temperate gauge is none existent.

They could have made a better job of putting the vinyl on the B pillar as it's starting to come off on the passenger side.

Maybe they could give me back that cylinder they chopped off the engine.

And roll bars, one of those would be nice.

Apart from that it's an excellent car!

Making the door stay open. Fed up of opening the door for it to then close on my head or leg

Skoda couldn't make mine any better.... lol, the engine is a cracker

I wish they had..

-Given it the PD150 engine

-not used white cloth on the seats

-made it lower with stiffer springs

-given it a rear anti-roll bar

-and maybe offered a 1.8T too..?

I wish my mk 2 Octavia had the 1.9 PD150 engine as well, I had that previously in a mk 2 Toledo and while the rest of the car wasn't great the engine was great to drive and never had any issues with it.  I guess the 2.0 PD170 engine just got caught between emissions regulations but it was the reason I got rid of the car, even when it was meant to  be running fine it rarely felt smooth or consistent which was frustrating when the rest of the car was good and an excellent community behind it.

John

I wish that the rainwater that collects on the top of the car wouldn't dump itself on the seats as soon as you open the door.

Not use such silly interior cloth colours.

Came in to post this. Daft choice in colour for the seats

Put the R32 lump in it maybe

Wish they put rear discs on the Monte as standard and an option of leather

I would rather of had disc breaks on the rears just like my Mk1 Fabia and built in sat nav.

I do like my Fabia and will keep it for another ten years at least.......but.

The interior niggles me the more I scrutinise it. The cut, fit and feel of the door panels is in my opinion not up to standard. The edges just seem unfinished as if corners were cut in the design stage. I put this down to the actual designer of the panels not the manufacturing.

The carpets feel cheap to the touch and a little thin, the mats especially.

Boot area feels fine. Dash, dials, wheel, seats headline all good.

Outside it looks great and the engine is a peach.

A better informative speedometer dial (no 100mph example )that has equal segments all the way up to the maximum mph.??

The 2.0litre engine with larger turbo.?

Fit an rear anti-roll bar bar as standard.?

More sound proofing

Fitted the rear door/windows properly

Softer and deeper seats

Bluetooth as standard

Silly little rattles rectified

Maybe 200hp diesel would have been better than 170.

Hardened the paint at the front of the car to help inhibit stone chips

Painted the wing mirrors and grille black

Auto dimming rear view, electric folding mirrors, auto lights as standard.

Lower stance or wider arches like the audi alternatives

Other than that, it's alright.
